@SweetSadie149 No...The nurse told me to make my nipple hard to get baby to latch but that was it (which she suggested just rubbing it a little). Which btw was just awkward in a room full of people......when my son was born I didn't have to do this (although we had a home birth w/ him w/ a midwife), he latched on just fine.

Breast feeding is good. It has been scientifically proven that children who breast feed from a young age tend to have a more developed brain. Even if this is not always the case, I still personally believe babies should be breast fed instead of all the formulas and what not. Breast feeding is natural.
Try baby socks on her hands if she's scratching, they stay on better than mittens. Also if you don't want the stinky diapers than only use breast milk. The diapers won't stink. If you are blistering try to express a little milk and letting it dry on your nipples it's natures lanhioline cream.

@krisnscilla Its ok for them to buy formula. You shouldnt feel obligated to bottle feed, but after a while you will want to switch to bottle, and then you will need formula. It is also good to have a back up in case you cant breastfeed. Dont let your family take the precious gift of breastfeeding away though!
Not everyone WANTS to use a bottle, or switch to a bottle. Some babies REFUSE a bottle. Just because you use or need to use a bottle doesn't mean it has to be formula either......she can pump breast milk if she wants though.

How did circumcision go?? Was it the clamp or bell method? I know with the bell it can cause problems by falling off too early.

@candycakehime Actually, there's a difference between babies who are attracted and adults who are attracted. Not only male babies are attracted to the breast. Female babies might be too. This is clearly instinctive and a survival method. You see, primitive babies relied on the breasts for feeding. Today, it might not be so common b/c of formulas and other sources of milk. On the contrary, adult males are attracted to the breast b/c it is seen that the women can reproduce.

well done darling! i tried and it was painful and so i stopped i did get very upset that i failed to breastfeed and cried and tried and cried and tried but in the end my son was premature by 4 weeks and he was healthy as an ox and is now 3 and is more advanced then his preeschool mates and it was all coz i chose him to eat proper baby food i used a good formula and when he was a toddler i continued to give him toddler formula,both my kids r fine and neither was breastfed! if u can U GO GIRL! lol

Babies can't digest the protein in cow's milk for the first year year of life. It does not have the proper nutrients and the amount of minerals in it can damage a baby's kidneys. Your mom gave you formula... not cow milk, made by a cow.
