my favorite part was around 16:33 when you added that variety of colors. Most non artistic people would think that would be crazy but it looks awesome.
Which program do you use? I did this is in Photoshop CS 5.5 but I didn't get the right pencils that you used there. I really want them 'cause the way you paint looks neat instead with the pencils I used :c.
I ask because I feel that I can draw a picture or model pretty accurately given enough time. However, I still kinda suck at drawing faces and body proportions, especially when I try making a comic or short animation or just painting a generic portrait off the top of my head. Any exercises you're especial keen on? Thanks!
if you want to get body proportions and such just first start out with a rhythm line and also do blocking. Also study various body forms and types. try 30 second anatomy studies. Also try some contour drawings as these will help you greatly
you know, i really learned a little bit today about skin tones and high lighting. My skin tones have been flat and one dimensional. this can really help me get it to pop.
Thank you so much for the video :) I apologize for having to ask this, since you did already say which brush you're using at the beginning.. but my painter is not in English and i wasn't able to find the brush! >< Could you please tell me which one is it from the toolkit? Thanks so much!
After watching part of a deviant art critique you did I got the strangest thought; perhaps these tutorials aren't magnanimous gestures of good will geared toward aspiring digital artists but rather the vitriol soaked lambastings of an irked misanthropic satirist disguised as a well meaning philanthropist. Anyhoooo...I enjoy your videos and would love to see a real-time speed painting with narration emphasizing Painter presets, brush types and texture techniques. Something like "_06" or "_24"
@hilltophorror The DeviantART videos certainly seem to inspire a perception of snarkiness, but I really do enjoy looking at the art and learning to understand what goes into my own opinions. The motivational for the tutorials started as an exercise for my own coagulation of knowledge on a subject, but I am actually trying to just help people with what I can these days. I'm always happy when people get anything positive out of them. Thanks for the feedback.
I was enjoying your devart critiques although I thought you might be a little too negative on things. Now, that you're showing some more stuff of your own style you changed my mind. Nice commentary too. I'm trying to do videos like this, so I do know how much work is involved to make these. Cheers and keep going.
@Lovedoctersar There's no blending tool, it's just the opacity setting on the brush and pressing lightly. I tried not to blend the strokes much, because it's fun to be able to see them in the art.
Wow, even though its just a face its one of my favorite pieces of art from you. That is EXACTLY the kind of style i wish i could draw and color in. I love all your art and i follow you on DA too. You are really talented bro.
how did u learn all you art knowledge? did u teach yourself? or did u go to some art school?

I really like your freedom of expression. I'm a beginner and one of the hardest things for me is to be less perfectionistic.

Hey Sinix, quick question: how do you practice?
I ask because I feel that I can draw a picture or model pretty accurately given enough time. However, I still kinda suck at drawing faces and body proportions, especially when I try making a comic or short animation or just painting a generic portrait off the top of my head. Any exercises you're especial keen on? Thanks!

About time you got back to actually doing art tutorials.... instead of that, the fuck was that man? DA critique??
bengoshia 11 months ago
@bengoshia Hah. It's fun to critique art though. Figuring out why things look bad is just as important as understanding why things look good.
sinixdesign 11 months ago 5
@sinixdesign
True but from what I see you critiqued more of subject matter than actual technical problems.

So...are you blending with a blending tool while also using the brush or are you just doing that with the saturation settings of the brush??
