Still surprised how detailed the cars are for that time :) this game deservers a remake or some sort. never got to play this game back then because our computer wasn't strong enough and by te time we had a new one this game was really hard to find.

Probably the best physics in a racing game. Greatest online racing game I've ever played and it's more than a decade old. I still have the game in its case. :)

Shame no home computer could actually run the game when it was released !

My current setup still can't hit full frame rate with all bells & whistles at the back of a full grid !

What a game it was and still is. Superb online spirit amongst those involved .... but again what a shame it was before broadband !

@randombeliefs I only had a Voodoo Banshee at the time for video card, don't remember my PC specs at the time but I could run the game full graphics as long as shadows were turned off. The reason the game doesn't run well on new computers is because you have to turn off certain protection features that come with the newer windows or else they block out some of the abilities of the game to utilize your resources.

I have a warm place in my heart for 1967. That's when my dirt-bike was made, and I maintain that it's the most fun two-wheeled machine ever created. It's the only bike that's pulled a wheelie on me without my expecting it. I have a supreme respect for old motor technology thanks to that little beast. And I do mean little. It's only 115cc, but you'd never know it from the torque.

google search the GPL2004 demo, it has updated graphics from the original. It comes with 1 track (watkins glen) and all the features are unlocked. the only thing missing is more tracks which you can copy from the full game disc or just download some fan made ones (the ones on the disc are excellent).

If anyone wants to race sometime let me know! I discovered this game late (2 years ago) but would love to race some real people instead of the PC drivers for once!

This is some of the best video editing I've seen. The section with the start of the race, where the tachometers are overlaid on the driver's view, is absolutely epic!

Good idea, however one must realize that most gamers today want to play sport games that take place in the present. They have absolutely no idea who Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill or Jack Brabham is.

I'd love to have a game you could race around 1966-1974 on all the classic circuits.

You should better use the demo.

Then you install the basic tracks and afterwards you have the full version.

The demo was released in 2004 and works fine on XP.
