Ignorance is abundant, I am not sure where Lawlertron lives, but everywhere has old vacant buildings that either cost too much to destroy or renovate. The Idea that old buildings equals bad is what destroyed much of our early and great buildings. In most large cities there are plenty of buildings that look just like many in this video, So I really do not see what he was talking about. and do you really want to live in a crappy ass cookie cutter of a house or something that is interesting?

Lived in Italy for a year and traveled extensively. In America we tear down old crappy buildings and put nice shiny new ones in their place. Europeans have it all wrong, leaving these crap buildings up for hundreds of years.

Not everywhere in Europe it's like that. And you now why America doesn't have old buildings? Because America as a nation doesn't exists that long. Europe has a history of city building dating back to the year 1200 or so. It's our culture, it's our history and thats why we don't tear it down.

America is a throw away society and culture. We build things to last maybe 50 years - long enough for the original owners to stop caring about them. I actually like the fact that in Europe buildings were traditionally built to last. From what I saw in Germany and Austria the more American style of building things as cheaply and quickly as possible has taken over.
