  • Thats What i want to do when i grow up. be a radio tech.

  • Aren't microwaves still used for data links and relays?

  • @Zentraleinheite 35 year old MW Antennas work just fine. New Microwave Antennas are being installed daily both on short-hop routes bypassing Telephone Company Cables and also on long routes (40-50 Miles) where the ability to place Fiber Optics is either not possible due to geography, cost or regulatory problems. The Microwave industry has built 150MB+ MW Radios that interface directly with OC-Level Fiber Optics and work just fine. It's current technology

  • @erod1944 FYI: The NEC 3000S Series radios are an example of OC-Level Microwave Radios.

  • can anyone tell me how old this tower is? Horn antennas? I thought they stopped using these ages ago??

  • @stdavross666 35 years, antenna don't work. The tower is use for cell service and radio links. Old days of microwave.

  • I PREFER RADIO LINK ALCATEL

    BEST REGARDS FROM MEXICO

  • Though Not known a Nera equipment affected this much by wind. I recognize a nera equipment on this site. I love the reputable NERA!!

  • There aren't any operating microwave relays here anymore. The towers are there, the antennas are there, but the -feed lines and equipment is all long gone. :^[

  • @k9rzz Not exactly true. Microwave radio links are still use where fiber optics is not practical (Geographic Limitations such as over mountains to be one instance.) Some times, the modernize the Old Ma Bells too.

  • There's a BASE jumper stuck inside the cornucopia!

  • LOL
