We Have lost SO MANY great artist I have written a song and posted it here on Youtube. I appriceate you posting this great classic and I hope you get around to listening to my tribute to the legends..
@carnut476 Im a Yankee and I still enjoy classic country. I used to listen to it with my grandpa in the car ( a native North Carolinian) I can see where you're coming from tho. Music is horrible today
If you can listen to that steel without every hair standing up on your whole body, and without goose bumps... I am fairly certain that you do not have a soul. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! This is REAL Country Music.
@KLUNKET Yeah , We are so fortunate to have been around to witness the best era in country music. We must treasure these videos 'cos mainstream radio and television will not pay this music ever again unless something dramatic happens to the money making machine. We have to keep hoping that the fickle fans will get fed up of the garbage that is churned out under the name of country music and then the record companies will come crawling back to us and true country music.
@KLUNKET What a profound observation, and so true. May I quote you?
Bill Mack once asked Buck during a live interview on WBAP out of Dallas, why his newer music had no steel guitar like in the past. Buck told Bill that once you'd worked with Tom Brumley, you'd worked with the best, and no one else could top that.
@scottbechler - I'd be happy to let you quote me. And yes Brumley was a master for sure. I hope the first thing I hear when I cross into the great beyond is Brumley playing that steel.
interesting to see owens before he played the red white and blue acoustic guitar. either way i say this: God bless the USA and God bless Buck Owens and God bless deer season.
I would give all the gold in the world just to hear Buck Owens sing this live again and Hank and Tammy etc. What memories I have will never forget them.
IMO this is the best country song there has ever been. Period. And Tom Brumley's pedal steel ride is classic to this day...RIP Buck and 'roos......You were a high water mark!
I'm with you....this is the classic of all classic country songs, and as a guitarist/steel player myself, I am mesmerized by Tom Brumley's effortless brilliance. Viva the Buckaroos!!!! Mike
Wish I lived in those days where everything seemed right and good!
I'm from The Netherlands, but I grew up with this music and I still feel like it after all those years! Buck rules! I got some real vinyl records my dad gave me, and man I can't just forget that! Like Hank W. Johnny C, Frankie L, Jim R and Slim W. I will never forget this music and will always play it! Just love it! Peace!
@whiskygirl43 AllI know is that I have an album with him holding this guitar on the front cover and you can see Fender plain as day. Enlarge picture and you can read it on this one. This music cannot be duplicated can it?
I just found out that my dear friend and local legend just passed away a half hour ago. He is the reason I started in country music. He owned a Hanky Tonk in Ruffin NC that played traditional Country music.....This was his trademark song. thought I would give it a listen and cry my eyes out.......Love you Bobby Adkins. May God hold you in his arms forever.......Hank Collins
Will Patsy Cline's "I FALL TO PIECES" ever get old?? Together Again will never get old either. Standard CLASSICS like these are "immortal".........they are meant for Generations to enjoy. Thank you, Buck for writing this masterpiece! Although every artist from Ray Charles to Emmy Lou has recorded this great song. No one can do it like Buck and Don, and Tom's Steel is the envy of every steel player in this world! lol......I KNOW.......because I ARE ONE!
This is the music I was raised on. Buck Owens has been a favorite of mine all my life. The harmony between Buck and Don Rich was magic!! Too bad country music doesn't sound this way anymore. Thank you, Queen Of Country....you've brought back some very good memories for me :)
Great song. This music will never get old. It's too good to be forgotten, especially when compared to the stuff they try to pass off as country today.
FANTASTIC!!!! I remember like it was yesterday when I was doing Country Radio and we used to play all of this great stuff by Buck Owens & The Buckaroos. I still get goosebumps listening to this today. It is so good, it can bring tears to your eyes. There is nothing like this. I miss you guys....Thanks for sharing this......
A #1 hit for Buck Owens on the Country & Western Charts. It was the 76th #1 C&W song in the Rock Era. It is also probably one of the rare instances where a B-side knocked the A-side out the #1 spot on any of the music charts. We miss you, Buck.
@momac71 I sometimes play old country songs with a good friend of mine - he plays dobro and I play guitar and we try to focus on duets like this. We sometimes play in some small clubs - the suits would be a nice "decoration" :) Anyway, just for fun, no big ambitions :)
