Tech: Apple PowerBook Pismo Upgrade

I don't think "Hacking" means what you think it does. You installed a standard after market part you purchased from a manufacturer. If I added a turbo charger to my car, would that make me a "Car Hacker" ? Now if your buddy made his own G4 upgrade and coded a driver for it (I.E. what the upgrade card's maker did) then you could call yourself or your buddy a powerbook hacker. Not that I'm hating, I own a pismo and found your video looking for similar cards, just a pet peeve really.

@lordcutter The context of hacking used herein with my videos is typically centric to a messy 'hack job' of an installation DESPITE it being a 'standard aftermarket part.' This polar opposite provides us with the needed platform for infusing crappy jokes, misinformation, and horrible camera work which is bound with meticulous editing to make this video content watchable, especially with the long run times associated with my uploads.

I've just watched this on my Pismo G4 550! The original processor couldn't play youtube video... for ease of upgrade or repair, apple has never bettered this machine.

The original G3 processor will handle a gig also. You have to remove the entire CPU and put in two 512MB sodimms.

512mb is what Apple officially says is the minimum. However, it is possible to take it to 1gig.

I love the Pismo, I finally got my old PB 1400 working.

You should reinstall Mac OS X. It will make it take advantage of the G4, because certain G4 stuff wasn't there when it had a G3!

Hi G - because it is a 15" laptop, and my other laptop is a 17" FF class machine, which really doesn't fit in my lap very well. So, with that upgrade, it's still a great machine for web surfing, communications, etc -- and it can really be in my lap!

Hah! Al ya did it again. Well done. Love to see Upgrades on a notebook. So hard to do always the first time around. I found the same problem with my G2 Asus I Tried to upgrade the Intel chip. Happened to not quite seat just right into the socket so... I ended up placing the old centrino duo core back in. Oh well. I just posted it on Ebay a few days ago. so. Good bye asus ! lol

Hi Sam - nothing is deleted. I just set most of them to private as of right now with a goal to have some new ones with a good solid 5 star rating. With all of the editing work I am doing, I still get that 4 star rating that tanks it. I dunno. I might have to take down anything under a solid 5. We'll see.

Yes, it was a good set, but that TV went dead a few days before the warranty ran out. So, I upgraded to a Samsung 41 " LCD. They are really great!
