The Deluxe Edition of The Lorax on DVD and Blu-ray will have the 1972 TV special in a better clean remastered quality with color corrections, TelevisionFTW1. It will ship to stores on February 14th and will be distributed by Warner Home Video.
The tale of the Lorax, The darkest of Suess's reads It tells about the Lorax, And how he speaks for the trees. But its not just a story, Nor a show on TV, Its going to be a movie, From the creators of Despicable Me. It's the 4th Seuss film, Made after "Horton Hears a Who?" And will be shown on March 2nd, Two, Zero, One, Two. Why March 2nd you ask? The reason, if I may, is because it's Dr. Suess's 108th Birthday!!!
I heard they're making "The Lorax" into a movie. For one thing, it's going to be the next CGI-animated Dr. Seuss movie since "Horton Hears a Who" as well as the live-action adaptions of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "The Cat in the Hat."
When I was 3 I thought The Loarx was a land walrus version of the ones that were in Oh the thinks you can think, and I thought the Once ler was just a headless version of The Grinch.
@CivicPartyRentals LOL! Ya! Reminds me of something I read once: "The only way the meek will inherit the Earth is if they're willing to kick ass for it."
Wow! I remember this cartoon. How time flies. I just never thought I would live in a time where it would ever become a reality.Call me a tree hugger but its wild how the earth is being transformed from a blue marble to a dark dingy polluted planet at the hands of a group of greedy profit driven Once-lers.
When I first watched this when I was 3, I always thought that those trees were for eating because they reminded me of candy, cause of they're orange yellow red and pink colors.
@nfhbrutus14 There is a great amount of money to be made in what nature offers. It must be carefully and properly managed however, to avoid waste and depletion.
it's so sad that this book was on a challenged/banned books lists. i did a project on it, it was bc it gave messages of enviornmentalist subliminaly to children and some parents didn't like it. ridiculous. my favorite dr seuss book
@ltm0011 The people who destroy the environment in the name of business would have a problem with it, you can be sure of that. They don't want anybody getting the idea they're doing anything wrong.
@unfinished8kt More likely that in reality it was banned because it demonized big business and in a country where economic growth is the primary goal to be pursued at all costs, we can't very well have our children thinking that industry is the bad guy. They just didn't want to put that as the reason it was banned because it would make them look bad.
@unfinished8kt If that's true, then it gets worse. I heard about a logging community who criticized the book and did their own messed up version of the story that supported cutting down trees and logging them.
@unfinished8kt There was NOTHING 'subliminal' about the message, here. It's literally an environmentalist cartoon that wants you to know the very real truth that the world will turn into a sad, gloomy, uninhabitable place without trees.
Fortunately, that's no longer a problem. Dr. Seuss wins.
I wonder what the name of the mixed chorus group that did these Dr. Seuss specials was? They seemed to do a LOT of non-Disney animated specials and movies in the 1970s; I also heard them on "Snoopy Come Home" and "Charlotte's Web" among a few other places.

@RingoandCarlin Yeah, I never could think WHAT the Once-ler would look like so it's kind of easy to imagine him JUST being the arm.
