I also have an old Mister Hit, but my model is very noisy. The turntable's motor is humming very loud while spinning. Do you have the same thing with yours?
It sounds to me as if at least when playing a 33 the record player appears to be playing records a bit slower than it should. Would replacing the needle stop the record player from damaging the records as has been mentioned by others who have commented? What's the name of that first song you played? Is the record you're playing that contains Running Up That Hill a sampler of sorts? I too like that song, but I haven't heard too many other songs by Kate Bush, i like some of what I've heard.
The first song is Max Werner - "Rain in May". Replacing the needle will help. The speed is fine. It just sounds like it's playing too slow because the camera cut off some frequencies that make the song sound faster (bass).
Can you use the unit on batteries? That really is quite an interesting unit with the speaker in the lid of the unit. I'm guessing the unit was made in Germany.
No, it can't be used on batteries. It was made in Germany like most of these old things. In the late 70s the German producers started to produce things in other counties.
a very nice little record player it seems like new your collection off vintage audio is growing a lot i hope you have a lot off place in your home people put a lot off beautifull things to the trash cheers
That's very cute. Does it have a stereo cartridge? I wouldn't play good records on it unless I had a new stylus and was sure that it wasn't tracking too heavily.
It doesn't have a stereo cartridge. I won't play good records on it. You're right - the needle needs to be replaced sometime. The LP I played was damaged by the needle, you can see where the needle played the record!

@ksufler
The motor on mine wasn't too noisy although it certainly wasn't completely quiet either. I no longer have this thing so I really don't know.

Awesome record player! Even for a small little portable, it looks very high quality.
I wish Telefunken electronics were sold here in Canada. I hear they make very top quality electronics.

Yes, I'm getting a lot of new things, but I don't have much space so I have to throw cheaper units out again.
