Joe Quesada destroyed Spiderman - What we learned from this:

1 - Despite his struggles, the guy doesn't get the girl

2 - Love doesn't win at the end, and evil is more powerful than good.

3. Marriage is an old-fashion institution- maybe girls shouldn't married cops.

4. Not because in reality, divorces happen so often, JQ shouldn't have to show that in fiction..

Best example - Great Expectations - Charles Dickes had to rewrite the ending in which Stella ends up with Pip.

@Jcplfan 2:02 is from Amazing Spiderman 519 and the pic at 2:36 is from Spectacular spiderman not sure which issue but it is from the Sins Past story whitch was published in The Spectacular Spider-Man issues #23-26 but its not MJ in the pic its Sarah Stacey her hair has been photoshoped red to look like MJ her normal hair is blonde and sarah is Norman Osbornes daughter with Gwen Stacey who has a rapid-aging disease that makes her older then she should because of the goblin serum from Norman.

There is a petition to bring back Spider-Man's marriage permanently in the comics. Just Google Spider-Marriage petition and you can find the link to it on the IPetitions website.

There's also an Unofficial Spider-Marriage Fans Group to those of you who use Facebook.

Just thought you guys would like to know. Here's hoping Marvel brings back the Spider-Marriage sooner rather than later. Sadly, as long as Mr. Quesada stays in charge of Marvel, we have a long wait ahead of us. :(

They are NOT divorced. Peter and Mary Jane agreed to have Mephisto wipe their 20 year long marriage out of the comics in exchange for Mephisto saving the life of Spidey's dying Aunt May in the single worst comic book storyline in Spidey's history. At least the Clone Saga was easily undone, but THIS is a bit trickier to retcon the... well, retcon.

Joey Q is a fan of Spider-Girl, so I really don't know what kind of posistion he's in at Marvel...I think so long as he supports that and keeps it alive, it's his way of honouring and evolving the marraige and appeasing it's fans...only some want to keep reading Peter and MJ, not their daughter.

And yes, Stan Lee did give a kind afterword in the OMD TPB, but he went ahead and retconned BND in his own newspaper strip, so that shows he only does these things for the money.

guys i highly recommend spiderman loves mary jane. its one of the best spiderman comics ive read. the first 20 issues were amazing. the second season suck though cause the original writer and artist is not there anymore.  which sucks.

Stan gave an afterward in OMD praising the decision and saying how fan reaction to the marriage was similar to fan reaction to OMD. Yet now hes put em back together in the newspaper strip. Can I just remind everyone that the marriage was not universally hated at first, and ppl were NOT saying it was the end of the character (at least no the majority). Good point! You're right. Why would he keep Mary Jane in the series if it wasn't planned on them getting back together. Remember when she sorta died in that plane crash, and it was revealed her "death" was faked so a stalker could have her? Peter got her right back. I really hope the marriage comes back, beacause it taught me about taking on the biggest responsiblity of all, which is what Spidey is based on, responsiblity!
