Eddie was an integral part of my childhood. His singing went right to my heart and I used to wish that I was him. I sang his songs a thousand times with my father who played the piano. This is a major loss. He had the purist voice of all time and when I hear it on these videos I am transported to myself as a child singing my heart out. He was better than all the others. I am very sad.
i was lucky enough to meet eddie and on several occasions got to hear this very charismatic man tell some of his many stories. he was a very generous and kind person. with all that gets said, i hope that is known and remembered.
@dvisme I have met Eddie Fisher many times at his shows and I got to know him as a fan. There was a time in the 1980s I saw him every weekend in the Catskills. He was living in New York at the time. What great memories I have of this sweet man, with the best voice of any singer of any generation. He gave his all at every performance. He was a very charming man. Even his daghter, Carrie, admits that. She had her ups and downs with her Dad. But they were very close before Eddie passed away.
I adored this particular rendition of this fabulous song in 1953. I was just sweet sixteen then and fifty six years later, I still adore it. Remembered all the words too!!!

Sorry doclampton, youve made a mistake! This definately made the top of the chart (the U.K one) - it was number for a solitary week from 3oth January 1953. According to the Guinness book of british hit singles 15th edition anyway!!
I have no idea why this didn't hit the top of the charts. Sure was romantic and beautiful, with a wistful, sad tone as well. Eddie was one of the greats of his era.
he is still great

Just checked the chart record's on Google, this song was No.1 on 27/1/1953 (UK). That happened to be the day I was born. Alway's wondered what it was
