Life has been good, Thank you Peter Framtone and his family, friends and supporters Lets do it again is in my days of building back at 5+. I support live music here in the sticks thanks to you back in the day
i seen frampton in1977 in memphis tn at the mid south colusem jimi jameson an target was the opening act..great show ..it was a lot of mary jane wrapped in strawberry paper being passed a round..
The Gibson guitar Frampton played this concert with was thought to have been destroyed in a plane crash in 1980. The guitar has turned up on the Caribbean island of Curaçao, and is now back in the hands of Peter and is being restored to it's configuration in 1975. He will be talking it on the road this year.
I despise the shorter radio version of this, it removes all of the awesome feeling and great presence of the killer atmosphere. I've listened to this so many times (when I was a kid) that I have completely memorized each and every note. :) Peter is da man.
One of the greatest rock tunes of all time. The popularity of this in 1976-77 caught everyone by surprise....even Peter. The problem is after this enormous hit Peter was kinda just lumped in with other artists such as Leif Garrett, Shaun Cassidy, and eventually the Bee Gees. Things became very obscure.
That concert in Austin was so tight, he did the entire Frampton comes alive album ( took about 2 hours) then he started in on some Humble Pie songs for the next hour. Everyone had a great time, and he recorded the whole session for release as the next Frampton comes alive 35 yr anniversary album!
P.S. he is really my 5th cousin once removed, not my uncle directly.
What I don't get is how part 2 has less than 1/2 the views of part 1. Over half a million people listened to part 1 and then didn't finish? smh It appears that well over half of the 1.3 million viewers of this iconic anthem listened to only the first half! MEMO if this song IS new to you, do not fail to listen to part 2!
@TheAntihero6212 Nice that you notice!! John Siomos is a really GREAT drummer and often over looked. But this is SOLID drumming. Stan Sheldon's bass work is stellar too.
@eurosuks San Francisco. Not sure what year in the 70's. I was a teenager and couldn't wait to get my hands on the LP. Someone may have already answered your question if so sorry to bug ya.
I wz there that night center back, top balcony. High as a kite. I "peaked' and had an out of body experience during this song. She left me 2 years before. She was kind of dimming in my mind, but now it was like we were face to face again. I was putting out so much feeling, I felt rersponsible for this performance, I coudn't go to concerts any more after it. I bought the cassete when it came out. Threw it out my car window cause, none of this got her back. Made a lifesize doll of her. Paradise.
What a great song, "Frampton Comes Alive" is a must have for any classic rock lover, and this song is a great piece of Classic Rock, definately a solid 9, on a 1-10 scale.
This is just plain bitchin'!!! ...whether in '75 or right this very second in 2011. Great music is ALWAYS great music because it's timeless. And now...I'm going on another channel & listen to some more cranked u classic music like Loverboy, Foghat, 38 Special, etc.
I don't care what anyone says This is good black light poster lit dark bed room with the eye of the storm Fu@king music Grab my girl. Break out the bong and the beers and lets do it again!

Probably the best evocation of a LIVE album from the 1970's. Certainly the best recording by miles. It expresses the sheer joy of a generation of people who are right into whatever they are doing at that precise moment.
Peter hit #10 in Billboard, 11-13-76. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! WLS-AM, of course, heavily edited the single, to fit its strict time constraints. Anybody remember 'em doin' that?
@MrBlueSkyMrNight Nicely put. I have heard this song a thousand times and the key change at the start never fails to give me a chill. Its like.. Ok.. here we go!! Something special is about to happen.
Possibly one of the most melodic rawk songs in history - this cut has phrasing written all over it - which is to say that it goes straight to your musical heart. So laid back and so in you - it's like you can't deny this: the song has everything.

I was at this show at the Commack Arena. Frampton was warming up for Ten Years After. At the end when he says, "I want to see you" on the voice box, the crowd isn't cheering - they turned on the house lights and killed everybody's buzz! "ARRGH!" I remember thinking, "When is this guy gonna finish this song so Ten Years After can come on ?" Not realizing, of course, that I was witnessing Rock and Roll history at the recording of one of the best-selling records ever! Shows you what I know.
@sirwob Nope!! Everyone thinks it is and the bulk of the record WAS recorded at Winterland YES. But DYFLWD and one or two others were done in New York.
@sirwob I am gettin really in to the "Day on the Green" version on here. I think that smokes. He is just kickin ass on that solo. Wish the entire song was posted and not just the condensed version. I wish he played it like this NOW but he jazzes it up a bit too much for me.. Its his big showpiece so he has to for the audiences these days. I like it back in the day (here) when it was simply straight ahead no messing around. Flat out.
HELL! i was 13, and working in 'kings the butchers' in taunton, when i first heard this, it was played on the DLT's tea time show, thought it was fantastic then, and still do , along with real music of the day , thanx pete!! youve made a happy man very old!!! ;)
I played this at a guitar recital and i posted it on YouTube (see video responses). I then sent it to Peter Frampton from a link on his website, and he responded saying he liked it! He watched it! Please watch, rate, comment and subscribe!
Everything 1976 was all about, and i'm not just talking about the bicentennial, which was awesome, to a 15 year old kid, this song KICKED ASS, from family to sports to girls, this tune stands alone as the best memory maker in rock history!!!
@GaryNull I've been in prison in the good ol' US of A being an alien, but still think there is no country like it. I love the nature, the canyons, the rivers, the wildlife. People, (humans) is a different thing to deal with...everywhere ! Cheer up, buddy !
Played this at mach5 while the egyptians were fumigating barracks. even they told me to keep it blastin. AHHH the cheap hi o' Malithyon and a good bud buzz:)
I just want to say, that in my younger years, I sang regularly with Pete Frampton in concert. We had a great time and I made lots of money *then I woke up - what a dream that was!*
Whooh, love it. Gotta' love this, awesome Peter , and awesome guitar. Some songs, (and you know what I mean ) make me want to party, and some songs get me thinkin' about......well, If you know "Kashmir" by 'Zeppelin then you know what I mean.
do you feel like I doooo...snorting cocaine and writing a half n hour song....

We need to bring back the music scene as it was around 1970 to 1983.
We had great producers, engineers, musicans, DJ's, record stores,
concerts, and some greed.
Now we just have greed.

Everything 1976 was all about, and i'm not just talking about the bicentennial, which was awesome, to a 15 year old kid, this song KICKED ASS, from family to sports to girls, this tune stands alone as the best memory maker in rock history!!!

@kbf1978 yes, we were lucky growing up back then.

@GaryNull I've been in prison in the good ol' US of A being an alien, but still think there is no country like it. I love the nature, the canyons, the rivers, the wildlife. People, (humans) is a different thing to deal with...everywhere ! Cheer up, buddy !

I just want to say, that in my younger years, I sang regularly with Pete Frampton in concert. We had a great time and I made lots of money *then I woke up - what a dream that was!*
