@thisoldguy64 Thanks. I will check out the small engines guy, donyboy73. I am already subscribed to Erikthecarguy. He has good videos on working on cars and repairing and fixing errors and diagnosing todays car and trucks.
@ncrdisabled I am sure that Toyota makes a good truck, but if I buy a new truck (not saying I will or won't, I think I will buy a Ford truck). I really like how Ford how designed their new trucks and I think they are better made than the competitions. And besides that, I am not to pleased with Chevy's performance in making cars and trucks these days.
@tallboyyyy Saved me from saying it...and maybe he'll listen to you! Me, I'm just a spammer around these parts, and should probably have been banned a long time ago*.
* that's to hear the Keykeeper tell it. Since I'm too busy buying junk I don't need at the Goodwill store and eBay, I am unable to adequately compensate the Keykeeper for a more positive view of my commentary.
Oh i almost forgot i just finished editing a few more of my El Camino project videos and i will be uploading them soon. I hope you and uxwbill get a chance to watchem. Keep up the good work you too. :)
@AnimeGuy2005 One word: Awesome. I plan on watching every video you post about the El Camino and the progress you make in restoring it, getting it running and whatnot.
@walshmonster2005 Hey Keykeeper Animeguy2005 here this is my new channel. I will be uploading more videos on this channel soon. Hope ya enjoy. Thanks.
AC is very important in the summer LOL. We have a BWPOJ(Big White Piece Of Junk) 2003 Silverado with 220,000+ miles on it, and 10,000 miles it had no oil change. After we got it back we changed the oil and its still running good so far. I love that old truck but i don't know how much longer it will last. :(
You know if you keep replacing parts on that thing like that, you may end up with a new truck, LOL! As for those who think he "should" get another brand of truck, they all wear out eventually. It's how you maintain it in the first place that determins how long you can keep it. That and if you meet that one idiot on the road who doesn't like you truck.....LOL!
Said this before, but I'll say it again. You might look into something like an F-150 in the future ;-)
My Dad and Grandfather have been driving Ford F-150 trucks for almost 25 years now. Never had a major problem or breakdown. My Dad drives a 2003 Ford F-150, crew cab, 6' standard bed, w/ the 5.4 liter Triton V8. My grandfather drives a 2003 Ford F-150 extended cab, 8' long bed, and with the 4.6 liter Triton V8. Which is the truck I haul firewood with :)

@itscool1968 A Ford? Well, at least Ford circled the problem, so we'd always know what was wrong with it! ;-)
It's kind of exciting driving the BBPOJ, not knowing what will go wrong or fall off next!

It might actually be cheaper to buy another truck after adding up that parts list. :P

Must be a common issue with these rigs- my '94 c1500 with the 350 reads high by the volt gauge as well.

Sounds like a rebuild lol
Alternators: Check all connections before getting new as things like a cruddy engine to body strap earth will cause no end of trouble.
i used to work at an autoelectrics place and earths were a sod for causing trouble.
also the live from the starter to the alternator was often loose.
zx8401ztv 1 month ago
hahaha @ least your truck wont be jealous of the Mercury or the Pontiac anymore!
ymxctrails 1 month ago
With all that new stuff you're going to put on it, maybe you should just make a shopping list and put "new truck" on it. ;-)
uxwbill 1 month ago
You might look into a Powermaster alternator. Also, it's a good idea to replace the main cable from the alternator with a heavier gauge.
