Man, I never put the crystals in the palaces. I just loot the item and move to the next palace. Then at the end of the game, I go back, stomp the boss, get 9000 point level-ups (extra life) from each palace. That gives a ton of extra lives for the final palace. Especially with the first two or three palaces, it seems like such a waste to trade a crystal for a few hundred points when you could come back later and get thousands.

I feel like a moron for asking this, but how do I enable the shield spell? I keep pressing start, select, a, b, etc after I open the menu for the spell but nothing happens. Is there some specific action I'm supposed to do to enable it?

OMG, this horseman is fucking impossible! I hit him in the head and it just makes that "attack blocked" sound all the times. I gono destroy my 3DS if i persist in playing this shit.

I know. At first I had the same problem but then realized at the top of your jump/as you fall you have to stop holding the control stick. This made the battle so much easier. Hope it helped.

It's because of the tin suits because they take away exp.

That is dumb using a crystal for life or magic, you used it for not even 250 pts... use your crystal wisely... even if you got a thousand pts for attack you can still choose to share the 1000exp for life and magic. No offense, just think before you do something foolish.

That strategy with the iron knuckles is great. i pretty much used to mash the sword and go up and down like crazy....never thought of jumping

I've never beat horse head (the boss) EVAR I've played this game loads but have always got stuck on him (cause i suck at timing my sword so he doesn't get hurt so doesn't get knocked back so he hits me)

PS: please note i am great at most zelda games but not Zelda 2: TAoL

Yes, LIFE makes your defense go up so you take less damage from enemies.

@peppo971 When you lose all your lives after Ganon appear, there are 2 options continue or save. Saving also ends the game and you have to start again from the begining but with all your equipment and magic.

I always thought of this game as a rare classic. It's a one of a kind Zelda game and, to me, it holds the first real story line for the zelda series.

If you are referring to the elevators throughout the dungeon, they are controlled by simply pressing and holding Up and Down on the D-pad.

Most likely, it's because you don't have either the Candle or the Cross, depending on where you are in the game. There are some enemies that are invisible unless you have those items.

My only complaint with this game is that some of the dungeons got really tedious, especially the later ones. You had to go around everywhere to make sure you had enough keys for all the locked doors but there wasn't really anything remarkable in the dungeons outside of the boss and special item. They were a bit to big and repettitive since all you can do is fight monsters and the rooms had very little distinctive details.

@nutsforbionicles Not really, practise makes perfect. You can't just charge in everywhere. Use the shield spell and be more carefull on when to attack and he's very doable. You shouldn't be able to defeat all the bosses on your first try with only halfassed effort.

@nutsforbionicles tbh, I haven't the foggiest. I only played this on my NES and as a NES rom on an emulator. All I know is that you bring up the menu in the NES version with start, select your spell, close the menu and press select to activate the spell when you want to.

I leveld up to level five on sword, life and magic on the bubbles in Parapa palace. It tok some time. But it was really worth it, the rest of the game was a LOT easier.

Yeah, you ARE good. Right now my goal is to (for reasons unknown to me, i guess I just find it cool) is that I want to use some sort of sprite editor on an emulator to make link turn into Simon belmont of Castlevania 2. If i do though, I think ill pay royalties to the game by buying it on the wii shop, then I wont feel so bad about emulating it on my comp. (thats just how I roll)

It´s not that hard. I played through it on 3hours. But that was after I bet the game and I could restart the game with highest level (8) and all magicks :)
