I'm fifteen and never heard of this talented woman until I went to her concert in Kansas City last week. Fell in love with her immediately, honestly, I was so transfixed by her because she writes about the Civil Rights Movement which is amazing and you know, she's in her seventies so she's seen a lot. It just really touched me, like I got connected to her music. Maybe it's because I'm African American or maybe it's because she's just truly outstanding. Either way, I love you Mavis Staples. =)
