All i can say is WOW great job on the video this is in my favorites for sure. i love the version done by perry commo but this is great the way sting does it and the video puts it over the top its great to turn down the lights put this on set back listen and relax and let yourself be at peace thakn you for this post
Outstanding, 65S. I've heard Sting's rendition several times but I never really listened to the song till now for reasons I won't go into. Outrageously beautiful song. Gershwin was pretty good, eh? And the backdrop of San Francisco, the most romantic city in North America (if not the world) was sweet. Well done.
I agree Sting's version is great but the one I am LOOKING for is the 2nd artist that sung it in the soundtrack to the movie by the same name. It was Roberta Flack! Find that one. It's not on iTunes (though Sting's version is). By the way the movie was a classic (forgot that Ridley Scott did it). And compare Tom Berenger back then to now in Inception....damn he got old. But still a great actor.
My sweet 329! How can I tell you howm much you mean to me? I fill my emptiness with dreams of truck stops, cozy booths, pork chops, and #109. How lucky I am to have you in my life! Your fatboy is madly in love with you!
I totally agree with enigma 265.....I also heard it first when i watched that movie.... and l have loved Sting's version ever since!....He just seems to capture the sheer 'beauty' of the song!....Great minds think alike eh? :)
I first heard Sting's version when i saw a late 80's movie entitled "Someone to watch over me" starring Tom Berenger and Mimi Rogers. It was performed at the beginning of the movie. I was mesmerized and have loved it ever since.
@65Seasons I have (or had?) a mini CD single from Sting when the CD singles first came out that had a recording of Englishman in New York, Someone to Watch Over Me, and Up From the Skies on it. It was a 3" mini CD and it was the only one that I've ever seen. At any rate, I was mesmerized by Someone to Watch Over Me and maybe even more so with his jazz rendition of Jimi Hendrix's Up From the Skies.
I love this song ever, and I agree with enigma 265, the sting version is one of my favorites versiom. And 65 Seasons, Do you have all these 40 version, always on you tube videos?
@LelaQ, different artists - vocals & instrumentals in my iPod (44 now).
I have so far only uploaded versions by Sting, Frank Sinatra, & Jack Jones.
While I like the other versions (just because I like the song), in my humble opinion Sting's version tops them all --- i can listen to it all day long (looped).... :)
@enigma265 i love sting version of this song to but my all time vaforite is the old video of perry como doing this song wwish they would post it again it was taken off sometime back wish i could find it thanks for the song

A great song and a great singer. Thanking you for posting it. We have ben surfing for this record of sting particularly its live version when he sings it in a grammy award as a guest singer. Many thanks...
love this song that he has done..just wish the volume could have been louder..looking for this song by him for so long..thanks he did do it the best.just him and the piano..
Just love his jazzy version of this classic.. he's one of my fave among modern artists. I believe this was featured in the movie "Leaving Las Vegas" with Nicolas Cage & Elizabeth Shue. Thanks for uploading it.

Sometimes a simple arrangement like this, just a singer with his very unique diction and voice and piano, that's all one need.s
The was used in the movie
Someone to Watch Over Me (1987)
This was used as the soundtrack.
Took me forever to find this.
Finally Sting released it in a 3-song EP...

i completely agree.
i have 40 versions of this Gershwin composition (instrumental & vocals) by different artists but this tops them all imo.
