Police units and Territorial defense units loyal to Izetbegović held JNA barracks in Muslim majority regions under siege, and attacking them with sniper, MG and mortar fire. In Muslim majority regions, police and TO openly assaulted JNA without any provocation. Those were on average 20 year old boys on serving the obligatory military training, with no combat experience. And they were attacked. Whats the federal gov supposed to do? What you think in a similar scenario the US gov would do? Ofc killing innocents is wrong, I agree honestly.
