@g1attie you never saw me tailgating, I don't. Tailgating is dangerous as are many other actions. Causing tailgating behind you by driving in the left lane and blocking the flow of traffic is also unacceptable. Practice lane discipline and we have flow. I suppose the hurry part is when you have a very limited time in a very distant place.
Seattle and a good majority of WA state drivers are especially bad at this! Speed limits are 60 and many drivers go 55max to avoid tickets and stick to the left lane. They also air brake constantly like their nervous. Their other favorite maneuver is a rolling roadblock to prevent anyone from passing either side. They also like to stay parallel with semis in the truck climbing lane and then selfishly gun it and block the rest of the drivers in behind the truck.
@longwalkshortpier yup, they do that and some don't even know what they are doing while others do. Some are self appointed do-gooders who believe they are somehow upholding the law. I had a guy doing that once on the Garden State Parkway and I cut him off so bad he had to brake. Then he starts with the high beam flicking shit behind me. I locked 'em up right in the left lane of the Parkway and flipped him off. You reap what you sow, Glad you enjoyed this.
@JJxMxP I got pulled by a local yokel in Madison County for passing 3 cars in a passing zone. He told me that it is illegal to pass more than one car at a time. I said never heard that one and when he saw my Virginia license, he let me slide. Then got pulled in Roanoke County for passing on the right. The road was over a steep hill and the right lane went into a neighborhood on the right and dissapeared. I got out of that one because it was obvious what happened. Never liked tickets.
What I find amusing is that so many people won't turn the steering wheel just a few degrees. That's all it takes to change lanes. It's almost no effort at all. I guess there is also the required movement of checking the mirrors, but how hard is it really?
This goes for everyone; those in the left lane and those trying to pass. Funniest of all are those who won't pass on the right when there are no other cars for miles, tailgating instead of turning the wheel a few degrees to overtake.
@crimdell Sometimes I don't find it amusing but rather iritatating but I appreciate your diplomacy. Perhaps most cases of rage rage begin because of people who pace another slow car. Like you, I am always mazed at the number of people who mosey down our Interstates in the left lane oblivious to the traffic they block. Only a few degrees would make a big difference. I have a "Left Lane Bandit" playlist on my channel in which I place videos regarding this issue. Some are by me, some by others.
Oh yeah bro. I would love to knock some of their sorry asses out of the way. Buicks of course are the worst. My motto is this, "if it's slow, it's a Buick." Crown Vics also are another known slow vehicle. I suppose it is because old people favor those cars.
You are absolutely correct. I suspect many of these morons know exactly what they are doing. When you flash them, they get all pissy about it and slow down even more. The technique I have found most effective is to come up on them fast and close in real tight for a second and then back of about 4 or 5 lengths and sit. If they have a brain, they usually wake up and move over. Sometimes I will leave my left blinker on while behind them which occasionally works. Thanks for the supportive comments
Yeah, if there's any chance they are actually going to realize what they are doing and pull into the slow lane, it will be if you come close, then back off. If you stay on them and tailgate, then they'll stay in spite (and probably with good reason, if you're following really closely).
I hear many people say they can talk and drive so I offer them a little test. Watch a TV show while talking on the phone and let me know how it goes. Even using hands free, they are a major distraction to your concentration and it is my firm belief that when you are driving, you should be concentrating on that.
It's illegal to use a mobile (cell) phone without a hands-free kit in Queensland. I think it's about $150 and a few demerit points. It doesn't stop ppl from doing it still though!
The other day I was driving on a freeway in Georgia (SR 166). The driver had to be doing 55 mph or below in the left lane. He wouldn't budge. I waited a bit, then passed right. When I did pass, I looked into his car -- he was on a damn cell phone. ARRGGGHHHH!!!
One day, tailgating is going to bite you in the ass. Secondly, what's the hurry?

@vbdenny It's illegal to pass on the right buddy.
JJxMxP 9 months ago
@JJxMxP no, it is perfectly legal to pass on the right, left or middle. As long as you do not drive on the shoulder, you can pass anywhere.
vbdenny 9 months ago
@vbdenny Another reason I hate New York State. I got a ticket the other day for passing on the right.

Don't you just hate that! Of course, for us in Australia, they're the right-lane road hogs.
I find an effective method is giving them a bit of a flash with the high-beam lights... that sometimes gives them the hint.

Americans are blind. Never really throught about a right lane hog before but....

A flash of the brights often actually gets them to slow down even more out of spite.

There ought to be a tighter law against using a cell phone while driving.

left lane pirates bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeh get the fuck out off there
jarcogoofy 3 years ago 2
I hate people who do that.
A while back, between Hamilton and Woodstock Ontario on the 403, staying in the right lane I passed 14 cars in a row.
They were all within a few car lengths of each other and barely doing the speed limit.
I hate idiots.
And I too would love to be allowed to do the NASCAR bump and run.
quebeker1 3 years ago
Absolutely incredible. In the UK 'undertaking' is illegal and the outside lane is for overtaking.
davidreynolds87 3 years ago
no kidding. Pretty sad that people do this. Is your email changed?
vbdenny 3 years ago
Left lane hogs annoy me. The left lane on the freeway is for passing, not leisurely driving. Doesn't matter what the speed limit is.
Bryant5493 3 years ago
Not only that, it creates a very dangerous situation for those stuck in the pack.
vbdenny 3 years ago
Yeah, it causes people to do crazy stunts.

Almost makes you wish you could do a little bump on them like they do in NASCAR. On the phone, yup, how cell phones ruined America's highways.
