Wow, a stellar performance by Judy. Too bad she was robbed of the academy award for this role.... that award went to Grace Kelly for a mediocre film called The Country Girl.
@MrThesheenster everytime i hear her name i go into an all out cringe and i actually really messed up my neck from hearing that abomination. also hyperventalation is a common occurance. that name once came up on tv while i was babysitting....it could have been dangerous
THE biggest and worst BLUNDER in Oscar History ...Judy not winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for this perfect , Amazing performance !! Shame on you Academy ...Shame , Shame , Shame !!!
judy was and still is one of the best singer actors ever. She should have won the oscar for this movie but Hollywood stinks. Judy we love you miss you and thank you for every note you ever sang and thank you for Liza!!!!!!
I am going to go out on a limb here adn say that I dont think this was half as good as what people have built it up as.....its incredibly similar to the original in 1937 - certainly not oscar worthy. Dont get me wrong, i love judy as much as the next person - but the acting 7 years later in judgement at nurembourg was far more superior - as was the movie itself. as for the born in a trunk number, i dont see its point of it other than it being a show case for her singing...
@disney1678 What The FUCK doesn being a communist have to do with not liking the clip?!! Let the people who don't like the clip express they're like or dislike without you throwing your ignorance at them!
Every time you watch Judy, you get the sense she was talking to you, that the song was meant for you. each performance was undoubtedly from her heart. :)
An explosion of genius. Brilliance oozing from every pore.
Though I am NOT proud of it, I did do a little scrunch/squash on the edge of Grace Kelley's tomb in that church in Monaco, when I last went there. It was impulsive.
No offense to Grace, but I sort of kicked her headstone. Discreetly. Totally unplanned, and I pray Grace is resting in absolute peace, but I think Judy would've laughed her ass off.
Ooooh! I Enjoyed every minute of the performance, she really was great and full of warmth,MGM wuz damn lucky to have her, screw Louis B. Mayer and his "hunchback" comments, bravo judy! BRA-VO!!
do you have access to the wide-screen version? you did a nice job with this, would be great if you can do same with widescreen. composition is so great with original perspective.
@selenabritroma : I think most people who were around when she was around, and even afterward are drawn to her...not just gay people. She IS talent. Period!
@bosma64 I totally agree. I am a masculine 42yr gay man who is out and not afraid of who I am. I am not the stereotypical gay guy but I have great taste and even before I realized I was gay I loved every thing Judy did. She is the Greatest Entertainer the world has ever had. I can only imagine how magical it must have felt when she was alive and on stage. Because her work is so incredible on film, TV and in recordings, I can't image the feeling what people experienced when they seen her LIVE!
@mrspatrickcampbell Judy looked dreadful here? She looked the healthiest she had in years and in these segments of 'A Star Is Born' she absolutely glowed. Look at her in the late 60's and she looked painfully unhealthy...but even then she had charisma no one has ever been able to match.
Her voice is just vibrating with raw emotion and experience. A very honest performance that is so much like what she really experienced in her own life. Her voice is so powerful and she really lives up to her Power-Lungs description that they gave her as a child.
Judy Garland: beautiful voice, beautiful image, beautiful soul. She was one of the most beautiful people that ever graced this earth. Words cannot describe how much she has changed my life through her talent. :D

Beautiful. Sad, because she eventually ruined her voice from singing in a flat, full-throated style. (pretty, but it wore her down)

Thank you for posting this. We are only sorry that Judy looked so dreadful (fat) here, but we blame this on her hooking up with that parasite Luft.
