I just think it's upsetting that I _know_ this kid will (did) get tons of sympathy and support while other causes without a cute face in front of them will get nothing. Just to clarify, Shane is NOT ABOUT TO DIE as some people have posted here. He's in a 2nd remission from ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) and has approx. a 70% to 80% survival rate once he is done with treatment. My son has ALL too and it breaks my heart that ugly people in this world could say something negative about this heroic child who has endured more suffering in his short life than most of the people who viewed this video combined.

I read on the facebook group that the world record is 350 million cards. Postage to Canada is 63 cents and let's assume a conservative 2 dollars per card - that's $920,500,000 for 350 million cards. Why not send a billion dollars to Leukemia research?

An 8 year old is not thinking about a billion dollars donated to research. When you are 8 and dying, you want love and affection, which is more important to him at this time. It's extremely sad to know that you may call people who care about him so deeply selfish, but that you fail to recognize the fact that by knowing the struggles of this one boy, many people will in turn be exposed to the horrors of leukemia. His cause raises public awareness.

I agree Hallmark should not benefit from hopefully the millions who will take a moment to be a part of sending something positive to a sick child. Homemade cards are the greatest and as a kid, he won't care if ya can't draw, yours will stick out from the rest of the manufactured sentiment. $ isn't the issue 4 researching a cure. they just hvn't found 1 yet as of all other dieases. wouldn't big time companies want 2 cash in on that idea if money "WAS" the issue. e.g. i'm a wealthy bussiness man n hve a lot of $. 500 million will be enough money to find a cure for aids. i'd get my own research lab n wrkers n i'd invest = cure(medicine/drug) curing people with aids = mre profit from my investment. like i said money ain't the issue.

I read on the facebook group that the world record is 350 million cards. Postage to Canada is 63 cents and let's assume a conservative 2 dollars per card - that's $920,500,000 for 350 million cards. Why not send a billion dollars to Leukemia research?
