  • damn you teach nice . when i learn one of these tricks is kind of magic how it sound

  • I've watched all your videos. You're an awesome teacher, and even more that that, an incredible drummer. Just wondering though... how long does it take YOU to gain significant speed with a lick??

  • you learn y confused man good drummer bad teacher jeje

  • I put up a similar lick/fill. take a look at it if you like gospel.

  • Sam, thanks for this, this is extremely cool!

Sticking isn't very hard, but it's hard to build up the speed like you did.

  • riil leef fuutfuut

  • I can't make it sound like one continuous lick. Are there any suggestions???

  • k custom dark ride?

  • @percyharper Oh Yes

  • @samnadel

    I have it too :D

great vids man, they help me a lot

  • I love Gospel licks man

  • dude u sick i love ur videos

  • nice mate...awesome!!!

  • thanks bro.. ur a blessing 2 me. God bless!

  • very nice thank you ma brotha!!!

  • Great work man! Thanks

  • just after first seconds i thought 'man, it sounds like aaron spears fill' good work!

  • hey sam.. ar 2:45 you start to explain where to put them. i count only 10 notes when you explain it .. what are the last two hits (23 and 24)?.. i just get a bit confused with your hits on the end.. thanks!

  • The last two Notes are a Right on the Floor Tom then a Left on the Snare. Hope that helps

    Sam

  • awesome! thank you

  • I'm gonna be playing this one A LOT! Thanks mate!

  • thanks man your really good

  • thank you for sharing this...you're a great drummer in my book

  • The video is great and i am trying the fills for over a week now.

However, could it be possible to explain the groove just before you mix it all together. at 5:18

I cant play the gospel at all, so that would be great!!!

    T

  • u got rhythm dude

  • Yo samnadel, is there any way you could break down whats goin on between 4:33 & 4:35.. sounds really tight.

  • It look like swung 8th Notes. Mainly RK RK with the occasional RLK

Its hard to explain properly in text!

    K = Kick

  • awesome lesson man! very helpful!

  • writing in in triplets and practicing them as 8th notes triplets (not the mad 16th note triplet pace samnadel is playing it at) helps.

If practiced as 8th note triplets the fill covers 2 bars each bar bein 4 quarter notes long.

Writing em in triplets makes it easier to read too:

Rlk krl Rlk krl Rlk krl Rkr krl

The capitals r the accented hits. Everythin else is ghosted.

    Cheers.

Samnadel, thanks so much for this great lesson! :)

  • Yes that helps taking it down to 8th note triplets..as with any 16th note triplet fill...nice one vrxyled!

  • @vrxyled

This helped me a lot. Cheers to you.

  • @tommy91588

    no problem at all.

  • great lesson!

  • this sounds so sick great tutorial thanks

  • amazing man, thanks so much

  • Sam... first off, love your videos..thanks for them. Your a great teacher!!! Muchly appreciated!!!

I started this lick at 40 bpm and have worked it up to 90ish...though it still doesn't sound quite right...I'am thinking I must be missing some accents/dynamics.....from what I hear the accents are place on the snare? Am I correct?

Do I accent on 2 and 4 still throughout the lick?

    Thanks for any help

    Degas

I will keep working on it.

  • should try and accent every triplet otherwise its probs gonna sound more like sixtuplets because of the sticking

  • Thanks man... I love U..

  • you have been a real inspiration to me and my drumming -- pleeease keep em coming!!!

  • its so damn good!

  • tight!!!!!!!!

  • Great fill,(it's going to take some cracking!) Thanks for posting

  • Thanks man. Just start off REAL slow!

  • I hear a lot about learning these licks that you should start off slow! But how would you determine when your ready to speed it up? Also How do you work on applying these fills to grooves and timing. Do you have any material on, or what do you recommend as far as learning tom, cymbal, and snare note displacements and accents? I always wanted to apply those during the groove but can never figure it out.

  • Hey man....Ive sent you a private message as my answer was too long!

  • Hey man i second that, could you send me the message too!

    thanks!

  • thanks man!! keep sharin man! :)

  • nice lick!
