Goldstone's bizarre retractions of his own statements after his own investigative efforts almost 2 yrs ago seemed impossible to comprehend when we first read his carefully constructed retractions of a once widely respected So African jurist of apartheid period. What was clearer to him in the past (Cast Lead horrors) R now characterized as 'erroneous/mistaken/unfortunate'. Not terms an experienced Jurist should use on War Criminals. Whatever Prof.Goldstone's reasons are for the minimal backtracking he's done (and he's not denied the overwhelming bulk of his report), it's still enough to give Israel 'ammunition' with which to impugn the entire report and to call for its withdrawal which should not happen. That the massacre of the Samouni family was a war crime and/or crime against humanity can hardly be doubted by rational observers... Goldstone's 'revision' notwithstanding.

It would seem that Goldstone has been gotten to. Threatened? Bought off? It is quite the dramatic turnaround. Only deluded nations like the US and Israel could even think that Cast Lead was anything but a massacre. Now all of the chess pieces are in play for a Cast Lead II.
