The publisher, NCSoft, didn't think it viable anymore to support the game. It had a smaller than expected playerbase from the start, and right before the closure announcement the player numbers started to pick up. We count this one under the "Beancounter Cretin Effect"

It was the best MMO ever, the only one that really kept me playing and now it's dead because of some greedy gooks.

There were enough players to keep the servers running, hell they even made a bit of profit.

lol PURGE sucks. it purports itself as an FPS/RPG, but it's really just an FPS that stores the results of your performance. it does have 8 character classes, though.

This is a great video of the gameplay that TR has to offer.

But Foreas base is where the main end of beta kicked off. It was shoulder to shoulder thrax, seconds before the servers died.

the lag has improved alot. it's no where near the lag that we had during beta.

Im thinking of getting this game, and replaceing WoW with it because it sounds different. How was the beta?

loved it! i did closed beta for WoW and palyed it for 2 yrs. This is the game that is replacing WoW for me.

I'm more of a casual gamer, so not worrying about raid schedules, logging off in groups (due to irl situations), etc is rather refreshing.

PvP is kinda limited atm. You join a clan and they flag your entire clan for world PvP for 7 days...I think it's called a 'war' and there are duels...but that's about it.

I love the massive NPC battles though; those are awesome.
