Yes, and Genn joined 54-40 in 2005, so your assertion that he left for 54-40 makes no sense. The idea that Genn left for fame is ludicrous - what reason did he have to believe he'd get it?
Where's your evidence for believing the rest of the band were desperate for a more commercialised sound? It flies in the face of the widely believed reason that Good simply was always more of a solo-ist, and by the time of AOB, the other bandmates had got sick of having their contributions restricted/ignored.
Here's irony...I actually had a dream where I was running from the schoolkids...and there were at least 3 ex-girlfriends chasing me (and one caught me, SPLASH, under the water we go...)
You mean a dream in which he wakes up and that same girl that was in his dream is staring at him with a knife behind her back? How the hell does THAT make sense?
This reminds me when we used to get MuchMusic in the States before they turned into shitty Fuse. I have always loved this song and video. Good ole 90's alternative rock!
I love his comments about the Juno's (Canadian version of the grammy's for all who don't know). "When its actually a television broadcast that celebrates actual Canadian music, rather than whos doing well internationally and who has been in car commercialsthen Ill go....
"When it actually promotes Canadian music at root levels, and it isnt kind of this weekend when the Canadian music industry pretends that its this independent industry and not just marketing warehouses for the United States, then sure, Ill be a part of it."
MGB is one of the most under rated Canadian bands of all time. Matt Good has written some of the impressive alternative lyrics of all time - seriously!
I grew up thinking that this was mainstream music that everyone knew of. The lack of Youtube comments on all of their videos suggests otherwise. They aren't well known, are they?
I've always known of them. I thought the same thing, but when I asked around few people I asked knew of them, which doesn't mean much, seeing as many didn't know Rush either...
No, surprising isn't it? When I think of MGB, I think alternative, and you would hear it on alternative radios. Shit, no one has ever heard of this band.
method: Canadians are aware of MGB/Matthew Good. Their work just hasn't been successful in the international market as it has over here. Such a shame though since Beautiful Midnight is a masterpiece.
Like many great Canadian bands...they are unknown elsewhere. This was from a time where ALL of my favorite band were Canadian and alot of people outside of Canada still don't know them!
You're so right. Great bands like MGB, The Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts, Sloan, Treble Charger, The Tea Party and Billy Talent arent very popular in the U.S, even though there songs are 10 times better than any shit you hear on American radio today.
dfbhcf: I know what you mean. I just ordered the new MGB album. I live in Pennsylvania, walked into a Best Buy, and they didn't even have a name slot for his stuff, wasn't even mentioned. Nobody knows who he is unless I show it to them. I had to order the new album online, have it shipped from a Canadian vendor by amazon straight to my house. It costed me a fortune but that is the only way you can get his stuff down here other then downloading it.
This song was use in a movie called Disturbing Behaviour in the late 90"s. There was a scene in the movie when all the crazy F@#cks leaped off a cliff. Check it out. The move is preety good.
And in the end at the scene of the soccer field, hes on the other side, and "puts himself all the way out" and follows his ego thought system to be burned in the end. and wakes up in the end and a symbol of waking in a seeming dream state of mind. "picture yourself at the MGM grand
****Puts me all the way out******And the fact that he helps his fellow man even though they want to hurt him, demonstrates**** that he sees the partially innocence in the others, subconsciously understanding that they are a reflection of himself.
very true, in my perspective, he is talking about being numb, and some of the experiences and emotions one feels in this state. So "load me up" in the sense to be pushed into a point up almost unforgivable cercumstances.Which inthe the end "pushed you all the way out" And as they dive in the water, it symbolyzes of the different obstacles one faces and quickly faces another, drowning in ones mental abyss. And the face that he hell his fellow many even thought they want to hurt him, demonstrates
Best alternative rock anthem ever! (or at least to me). I use to listen to this song every morning before high school to mentally prepare myself for the abundance of bull shit Id be walking into. And the music video is awesome; the ideal depiction of the struggle to be an individual when the majority is so unaccepting and the END to me seems to symbolize how those finicky groups are untrustworthy & quick to stab you in the back.
omg i haven't seen this music video since about 4 years ago...and i readthat comment that said "creep ending..." and then i thought to myself...ya doesnt it end off with a bloody knife or something? and then BAM-a not so bloody knife!
I loved this the minute it came out - brilliant. Everyone is for themselves these days - hasn't anyone noticed? A song isn't worth much if it doesn't have something to say and Matthew Good Band always has something to say in their songs. They shine a light on who we really are while entertaining us at the same time. That is art.
Das Lied klingt so wie eines von Jeanette Biedermann...und zwar Bad Girls Club. Wobei ich nun nicht behaupten will, dass die Jeanette die Melodie zuerst hatte...das glaub ich nämlich eig garnet^^
this song me reminds me of a time when walking home after school and was abducted by this man...i was raped...but..it was totally awesome....i get a boner whenever i hear this song.

OMG! I'm so sorry to hear that, but that had to be the funniest thing i've ever heard hahaha. I was actually abducted once, but it was by a family of gorillas, and they raped me, it was alright, but i do get a boner when i watch tarzan

ok I was pretty hated in school because I wouldnt do drugs and drink alcohol and I was in the drama club and music and shit like that but does that really make some one a loser? I will leave you to decide that. what I am trying to do is say why should every one be allowed to pick on others just because they don't conform to what they are doing? well post on my facebook with what you think!
this song is great and the ending to the video is great. just a question but how many people here on youtube given the chance would actualy go against a crows of people like that ( i dont mean in violence but to stand up for your self and what you believe in even if it means every one will hate you)? I will try and make a video to explain this
Ah, a young generation that labels everything 'emo'. I find that when people like these post about any genre of music such as this all the way to death metal, they just label it 'emo' because of laziness and ignorance. To lazy to acknowledge one genre from another, or maybe because they feel threatened from the superior form while theirs lacks melody

This video defines alternative music, and to a higher extent, led me to listen to Matthew Good Band. I only wish more artists in this generation could ever get such opinion.
fuk everyone is so stupid... every single kind of music is emo... im posetive sure that anyone whose making music puts in some emotion some kind,.. so.. everyone should just stfu...
so why do all these teens want to kill matt?

explanation for my first comment:
ok I was pretty hated in school because I wouldnt do drugs and drink alcohol and I was in the drama club and music and shit like that but does that really make some one a loser?

This songs one of my faves. Saw these guys live for Canada Day in Winnipeg & they rocked. Too bad they broke up.

This video defines alternative music, and to a higher extent, led me to listen to Matthew Good Band. I only wish more artists in this generation could ever get such opinion.
