Only Christian Bale can talk so beautifully about the role of Batman / Bruce Wayne. There's so much sincerity and confidence in his voice when discribes his own role and the role of Heath's. The coolest thing I ever witnessed is that an actor expresses that same sincerity and confidence in a movie by portraying a certain character. Christian is one of the very few actors who holds these values in high regard.

The choice of talking "American" in this and other interviews DOES matter. Because unless an interviewee is being himself (which he clearly isn`t here) you cannot expect candid responses.

It`s a bizarre choice of his.

I think that this is one of the best Batman interviews I've seen. And I've seen a lot. Bale doesn't come off as much self-absorbed as very serious. It seems to me like Bale liked the interviewer more so then the usual and sort of went into explaining the questions as best he could.

Whether he is arrogant or not is impossible to tell if you don't know the man, but he certainly comes across as a bit self absorbed in this interview. However his work is exceptional including the Machinist, Batman Begins and 'Psycho, and getting a leading part in a Michael Mann movie is testament to his ability

I thought having Harvey Dent was a great necessity. The way they worked him in the movie was (I'll admit) a little tight, but he become important not only in the establishment of the necessity for hope in Gotham but also in giving batman a position, an eventual role to play within the eyes of the Gotham public. Without Harvey Dent, without two face we wouldn't be able to truly see how batman is the dark knight.
