Hi Marty, I recently found your videos while I was searching around for songs to listen to and you made me pull out my guitar and play again. I took got new tuning nuts, strings etc. and I've started plucking away again, thanks to you. Jamming with you in person would be cool, although I'd be too embarrassed because I'm moons away from being at your level of playing. When I'm 90 and your 50 I'll request a jam session with you. Cheers!

This is the first video of yours I watched and these are great tips. I really need to learn more than open chords and the penatonic scale. I'm gonna practice and look for more of your vids. Thank you,
I watch Marty videos to help myself stay encouraged to play. But with life's obligations and responsibilities, that encourage fades away. I have watched videos on Steve Vai in the Guitar Center video. I will never ever give up on guitar playing. Thank you Marty for these inspirational videos.
Thanks bro, guitar starts making sense thanks to you.. may you get all the money you are helping people who can't afford it, to save, allowing them still cultivating their talents. God bless you.
Great tutorial! I'm still having alot of trouble with the G chord, my hand just isnt long enough so Im trying alternative ways to finger the chrod that will work. Right now Im just getting started and learning different chrods. Thanks again!
Great help. I've been a bass player for a few years now, and i just decided to try out the acoustic. It's definitely taking some getting used to, but these videos are a great learning tool. Much thanks for making these videos available.
Oh hey! Have you thought about the X7 Guitar Mind Implant (google it)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate learned to play quickly with it.
im not a beginner but as we say im still learning, watching you has clicked a lot of stuff into place for me, and with music when one obstical becomes clear another 3 or 4 obstical's just click into place. your very good at putting a lot of info into a very short space of time...i.e. 10 mins youtube video. but even more so youe very good at keepin it simple, easy to understand and most of all enjoyable.... keep it real marty thanks... fergal
thanks marty you have helped me aloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot :)
Love the message, the teach and inspiration Marty. My brother-in-law bought your CD's and likes 'em. Between you and he I'm getting closer to getting off my duff and practising. Bear with schmucks like me who have given up a 1000 times. I have a 1971 Yamaha FG 180 that's begging me to pick her/him up.
I went from not knowing absolutely anything about guitar to playing my own songs thanks to you.....the only thing I knew was that my friends could do it and was cool but I never thought I would make it this far
hey martie,,ive been playing over 30 yrs,i cant read a note,,my mom tought me a bunch of cords, and i ran with it,i learn by watching people like you, thanks brother you make me want to play again,,cheers,,dave
Great video for me. I have been trying to pick back up my guitar for awhile now. You are great. Thank You Very Much. Looking forward to more of your tutorials.
Can any1 tell me, are the hammer ons possible on every acoustic guitar? When i play single string and do hammer on, i can hear it very well, but when i do it while im strumming the change is like nothing, i hear it just slightly, not like marty on the video ( im not expecting to sound like marty on guitar, but i want to hear hammer on better)... and i am pressing just like i did with single string, but the difference is i nearly dont hear the change, is it cuz of guitar, or me, any tip pls? :)
@TheBluesftw Yes hammer onas are possible on every guitar including acoustics. If you aren't hearing the hammer on clearly, you should try moving your finger down faster and harder. It also could be that your acoustic strings are somewhat thick in which case it is hard to get a clear hammer on sound. With lots of practice you might be able to get the hammer on to sound better, but like I mentioned before, the size of the string will limit how clear of a hammer on sound you get.
Your tutorials has been an inspiration to me n soon or later I wil respond with video. U hav encourage me to go further from wer I was in leaning! Brilliant jobs in fact y dnt u start an international school of music
Really like this. I just got my first guitar this past Christmas. I am 47 yrs old and have always wanted to learn how to play. Mid-life crisis my wife says. Just finding it hard to get my fingers to move around. Will me watching a lot more of your videos. thanks....
ive so many questions. what are the importance of scales? why do we need them? and how do they get their name? and what determines what notes are in a scale and what notes arent in a scale?
great video!!!!!!! I am what you might call a closet guitarist and I love to play my gibson j200, It's super duper fantabulous. I struggle to learn from most sources but I am finding your videos really help, maybe to the point of playing for poeple to listen to my guitar. It's something I will keep working at. Thanks. David.
Just wanted to say great teaching. I am a drummer of 38 years, rarely touched a guitar except for kicks, never tried to learn. Thanks to you I can somewhat play and understand chords, notes, and finger placements. I now have been playing 2 weeks now, (I'm 40) and I am really enjoying listening to your teaching and know-how. I subscribed and hope to learn alot more and become a tolorable guitarist, still a drummer though. Thanks Marty!!
i know this is better late then never...lol i used to play guitar years ago and was in a bad accident and suffered some memory loss and ability to play correctly so i sold mine but recently got a cheep crappy one (trying to upgrade eventually hopefully) and found your videos, found your teaching very friendly and easy to follow and in doing so has inspired me to relearn playing, thanks for posting them and please continue cause i know i will be looking forward to them............thanks again
I use a finger picking style and like to make up music as I go. This video just blew me out of the water! The scale you taught me is something i kinda had an ear for and you filled in the gaps and opened a million doors! thank you! I watch one video a day to relax and learn something new. again, thank you! you are now part of my "chill" time. :)
All your videos have really helped me... and I need all the help I can get :P I was wondering if you will ever do *When The Man Comes Around* by Johnny Cash?
