It was just a difficult day. Every IVF has it´s ups and downs and some days you get really cranky over the littlest thing. Also it´s in small town France which is a lot different than the USA. There is a lot of on the job training of quite young people. She was new and maybe all of 19 years old. Just learning the ropes :)
You are the bane of every pharmacist's existence: the patient who thinks they know better than the health care provider who is just trying to watch out for you. God forbid someone use your medication in a different dosing strategy! I'm sure if the pharmacist had a video blog they would have a very different story - one that might include you mentioning that you've used the medication very late in the conversation. Pfft to you. PFFT!
Decapeptyl is formulated as a sustained release injection which, generally as a class, would not be administered daily. Although IVF regimens differ, the manufacturers IPSEN do state a single dose on day 2 of cycle as a fertility indication. This is probably what troubled your pharmacist. No harm done with this debate tho'- everybody involved in your care should want the best for you. Sometimes we need to educate each other!
It is the pharmacist's legal job to ask you all those questions. They should be asked to your more privately yes, but the pharmacist was not asking you questions to be friendly but to know the situation.
Suck it up you friggin wa-wa - Its idiots like yourself who are a pain in the arse for pharmacists - so the pharmacist was supposed to know that you know about your IVF treatment - God forbid we ask you questions - at the end of the day we just want to make sure people know what they are doing so they don't kill themselves and take our livelyhood with them....
Actually I do know more than her in this particular case. She admitted it to me last time I came back and asked me to verify that the drugs were the ones I was used to.
So forgive the pharmacist all to hell for watching out for your health. "Put her in her place?" We don't ask questions to "be friendly," the questions are asked to determine if you are using your drugs correctly. You may be "all knowing" about your particular course of treatment, but not everybody uses the drug the same way as you! You have no idea how a pharmacy works, do you?
