  • Getting just Inspiration from the Script, Genre, or ideas cant be called plagiarism.

Those who chide at KH for not being creative please rmmbr 1 thing. He has been doing all experiments or fresh ideas ever since his B&W days. But most of them bombed except few thanks 2 KB. Even now his fresh scripts like Heyram didnt go well or Maruthanayakam cudnt even take off.

He has lots of scripts, but is thr a producer to take risk in this commercially sensitive field?

  • Tamil with malayalam accent.70% words are also used in malayalam.

  • i'm tamilian from Chennai. can any tamilian from srilanka/canada tell me if Kamal Hasan is representing your accent well in this movie? it sounds really authentic to me. but what do you think?

  • @themymrhyde Actually kamal speaks almost perfect Jaffna (yaalapaanam) accent of Tamil,as a muslim tamil speaker i can't speak like this .it's kind of hard to pronounce jaffna tamil....Kamal has done a good job

.. In Srilanka we have got different accents of tamil ...in colombo there's a different one, in easter srilanka they have got a different , south coast there's some other accent..almost 5 or 6 kind of accents...!!! but ellame Tamil thaan :D we do understand each other very well..!!!

  • @gomastc thanks for the reply! are you still living in SriLanka? If yes, how is the situation there in the north and east part of the country? Internet la enda vishayamum olunga theriyala! is life back to normal? if possible, can you email me at logev@yahoo.com?

  • @themymrhyde no it doesn't. This is the modern day jaffna accent spoken by people in jaffna and the western diaspora. The real authentic jaffna accent is spoken by the Malaysian/Singaporean Ceylonese.

  • @themymrhyde he is speaking with the accent often used in stage dramas......check the video below for the normal jaffna accent youtube(dot)com/watch?v=OFq8WbrjgCk

  • ok some of these ppl are the dumbest ppl to grace a keyboard...

Everyone needs to understand that movies are copied completely without giving credit (Prabhu Deva in Pokkiri into Wanted, no credit given to original story writer). If you think about it what about bob and ms.doubtfire do have a similar story to thenali and shanmugi, but the characters are much different to suite the tamil audience (along with crazy mohan amazing dialogues). Other than the key synopsis being the same the stories

  • are different...oo ye and how is nayagan a rip-off of nayagan...the onli scene he copied was the scene where he kills the reddy brothers...(mani ratnam) juss because he helps ppl juss like godfather iz a copy...

and if think this "ruins" his status as a legend..mann...ur a retardd and some1 should punch u...

tell me who can fuck with nayagan in terms of acting, singing, comedic timing...

  • No one except kamal sir would have done this to perfection and he has his own individuality. pls dont compare kamal sir with anyone else.

  • actually tis video is full shot nd its very tough 2 act... but ULAGANAYAGAN made it very easily.... acting king

  • I cried when I watched this scene!

  • HATS OFF KAMAL SIR!!!! You are a GENIUS!

  • legend. so many years n still standing the test of time.

THE actor among sea of actors

  • 00:32 to 00:44.... See the way he changes his expression.. In Fact this conveys the truth!! Kamal Rocks!

  • ammam kamal is an eelam tamilan in this film.

  • good acting

  • Comment removed

  • my tamil is weak... can someone translate what kamal is saying? is he trying to stop crying and smile at the same time? if it's true, then what a feat to pull offf! hats of kamal sir!!!

  • even tamilians wouldn't understand this tamil my friend. He is telling his story about his childhood when he was first his land being bombed, father killed, and mother been raped by soldiers. he witness everything being a kid. You can see progressively kamal weeping. thats genius!

  • beautifully expressed. this brings forth and exposes many problems happening in sri lanka

  • Awesome performance by aandavar kamal........He just merges himself with any character completely.....When you watch films like "thenali" or "guna",you cannot find kamal haasan there.....you can just find different characters......thats why he is "LIVING LEGEND".....

  • great acting

  • Kammal does a great job showing the very emotion of Sri Lankan Tamils. Many innocent Tamils are becoming victims of murder, rape and torture... I pray all this will end soon!

  • @rexenm its all dne now m8

  • Sinhalese bastards killng innocent tamils i srilanka.....god save them.

  • One and only Kamal...the BEST

  • this is more than enough to prove he is an UNIVERSAL HERO

  • kamal r the best

  • This is performance !! Kamal rocks in whatever he does

  • as i said in the statement u tit. very similar to tamil from vavuniya// now learn some manners

  • he is too good, id say Kamal is the best actor in Tamil Indian Cinema

  • This scene could bring a tear out of anyones eyes. Brilliant perfomance.

  • xellent performance padmasri kamalhaasan. hatz off!

  • what an outstanding performance...this man is truely awesome....though i didnt understand one bit what he was talking...guess its one of the indian language...i am told they have some 24 languages

  • He's speaking the Sri Lankan Tamil dialect.

  • wat nonsense.. this is very similar to tamil from vavuniya..

  • hey loosu.

itz not making laugh of ur cause and suffering. Idea was to project the oppression of SL forces on Tamils and also highlighting ur cause too.

  • you are comparing Kamal to Bill Murray?? Bill Murray has the same expression in every movie. Don't compare that one dimensional actor with a legend like Kamal.

  • @boybouy1

Bill Murray doesn't even deserve to be compared with KH. wat non-sense.

ofcourse the sript was copied, but that doesn't make Tenali or KH inferior to WAB and BM

  • @martiantraveller

Did you see a word 'compare' in my comment(s)? All I was saying is Kamal is a copycat. I liked Naseeruddin Shah better. Kamal sucked trying to copy him.

a small list of Kamal Copies/plagiarism which I can vouch as I saw both movies. I saw both movies. a google search will reveal more.

    1. A Wednesday.

    2. Mrs Doubtfile

    3. Patch Adams/ Munna bhai M.B.B.S

    4. Godfather

    5. Planes trains and automobiles.

  • You may be right, but tell me which moviemaker hasn't copied? 23rd Pulikesi was a copy of Uthamaputhiran, Rajini's Billa was a copy of Don, and many more.

What's important is that when a movie does well in a language, there is nothing wrong in remaking it for the local audience. Nobody is going to lose a night's sleep just because u liked Nasserudin Shah. That's your choice.

Munna Bhai was remade in 6 indian languages besides Tamil. Are you going to bash the others too? Be fair, friend.

  • @sujatanagarajan If it was a so called "inspiration", he must have given credits to the original movies in the end slides..or atleast somewer..or must ve bought the rights to make a remake..failing to do so is a blatant stealing... here r my "facts" two much- kadhala kadhala she devil- sathi leelavathi what about bob- tenali moon over parador-indhiran chandran god father-naayagan enakul oruvan-reincarnation of peter proud bourne identity(novel)-vetri vizha mrs doubtfire-avvai shanmugi
  • @jeraldmilton what about virumandi, thevar magan, guna, mahanadhi, kalyanaraman, and so on? if you noticed, all the movies that you listed are adaptations, not remakes. You only give credits to remakes, not adaptations. By the way, due credit was given verbally and in the press for the remake of A Wednesday. Enakkul Oruvan was written by Panju Arunasalam and Indran Chandran was by a telugu writer. And Nammavar was a totally different story from To Sir with Love.

  • @sujatanagarajan virumandi-still..i dont know wat do you mean by difference between adaptations and remakes...they mean just blatant lifts from hollywood..without paying any rights to do so..life of david gale, thevar magan-tones very similiar to godfather..granted he has done original movies...again with nammavar..taming a bunch of brat kids with unconventional teaching methods-plot line that happens to b ,so similiar in both..coincidence?..of all the stuff he has done before, i think not...

  • @sujatanagarajan Why dont you do this?...just go ahead and proclaim "kamalhassan is the most original artist of all time..and that he has never had any single idea taken from some one else ..and even if he did he had paid for the copyrights to every single one of them...."

and get this..no matter how good is the replica or remake or adaptation of a piece of an art or movie is..THE ORIGINAL ARTIST ALWAYS DESERVES CREDIT...as long as the one who did the adaptation does not pay any credit..

  • @sujatanagarajan Even kamal didnt direct those films, he chose to act in these movies , because he did not want to risk some new story for his movie which hasnt proved a commercial success abroad before...or because of the laziness to sit down and get some original idea from the scratch..its always easy to steal from other film industry when he has a bunch of fools who are gonna call him a legend even most of the movies he comes up with are ideas from some other movies..

  • @sujatanagarajan we have stories..we have excellent artists..the disappointing fact is, these guys dont wanna risk...they always conform to masala formula..always copy something from someone..always have dance sequences, even it completely didnt make any sense..

and even that is ok if the story is original and refreshing..like kadhal ,veyyil or angadi theru...

  • @sujatanagarajan contd..

butterflies are free and the graduate- raaja paarvai

    very bad things- panchathanthiram

    nine to five- magalir mattum

    to sir with love- nammavar

    planes trains and automobiles-anbe sivam

    green card- nala thamayanthi(producer)

i am not against kamal or anything ..but wen you try to show someone as a gem from your film industry he has got 2 b atleast original..btw that inspiration is ok as long as it is not plagiarism...

  • @sujatanagarajan Munna Bhai is a copy of Patch Adams, A biography of Dr. Hunter Patch Adams who has a vision. The original movie helped to bring his vision to masses. According to you, movie makers from 7 languages made a lot of money off his story. why didn't they pass a message in the movie so that the people who saw the movie will help him.

Now think of an Indian movie made on the life of Baba Amte and copied to eight languages across the world. Do yo think that will be fair?

  • @greenjelly01

After all, your legend blatantly stole or copied or 'inspired' almost of all his storylines, plots or characters from such one dimensional artists from west and north...A so called legend should be original, atleast once in a while........

  • @jeraldmilton Hahahaha, how can one do any movie without inspiration? If you do a count, the legend has more original than remakes. Get your facts right, friend. It's good being a critic, but it should be supported by facts.

  • @sujatanagarajan people need to stop stealing ideas from hollywood..it shows that we are "creatively" retarded..and atleast the so called legends should pave the way for it..

and wednesday was good..uo was crap..terrorists talking in tamil?..chief police officer lighting cigarrete for a reporter, in a public place?, just cos she is a woman?..an unnecessary, sexually very explicit story in the flash back to exaggerate the horror?...(wednesday does it very subtle with the train story)..

  • @jeraldmilton I guess we are on the same page here. Part of blame should go to the audience who pay for such inspired/copied/plagiarist movies. If people start demanding original movies, then the movie makers may put money there. The slumdog millionaire was an original script of an Indian author. None of the Indian movie makers stepped forward to convert it to a movie. Kamal could have contacted Vikas Swarup.
