That's Lil with Sugar Johnnie's Creole Orchestra. Lil had this photo on her wall and she willed it to me, along with a lot of other photos. So, other than that, I don't know the history.
My Grandfather Preston Jackson introduced me to your Father and I was very much inspired by his music. I was blessed to see him perform on many occasions. If you can guide me to more info on my Grandfather and his music, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for this video! I'm Franz Jackson's daughter and just did a search to see what else what out there besides the videos I've posted of him and came across yours. This recording was about six years before I was born, but I remember several of the personnel as fixtures around my house when I was little: Preston and Al in particular since they played often with Dad at that time. Amazing session you captured as are so many of those Living Legends recordings. Thanks!
Chris - you did a wonderful presentation of LIL HARDIN here - she was a great musician, and that last recording session was remarkable - legend here has it that the band was larger than it would have been due to a scheduling error - if that's the case it is remarkable - love that brass section and Pops - and you know how much I love Darnell and especially my close friend Franz - brought back memories of Franz, Preston & LeRoi - beautiful people - and THANK YOU for recording this GREAT music !
Thank you, Yves, for the comforting words. Yes, Lil was scheduled for 2 sessions, each with different personnel, but my engineers (2 people) screwed up, so the second band arrived before we could start recording the first. Time was of the essence, so I decided to put them all together! I will soon have more on that on my blog.
Let me use this opportunity to compliment you on your own music, a wonderful sound that is uniquely yours. I love it!
Wonderful- Do you you know the history that goes with your picture from about 12 sec into your vid? Quite a nice story,

Listening to music like this on a rainy day in 2010 makes me glad for the joy of a good internet connection

El tema empieza en el minuto 2:16 después de un recuerdo anterior de temas grabados muchos años antes y en los que también intervenía LIL HARDIN .

That is true, but do you see something wrong with having a bit of background precede the title clip?
