The problem arises when people elevate the Hebrew version of the Bible as the most important. The HEBREW comes later, but it is not the oldest version. The issue is not with Hammurabi, nor the Bible. Hammurabi's code is from the 18th century. Hebrew was not written until the 9th century. Logically, the Hebrew Bible is derived in part from Hammurabli's code where the codes match or are similar.

Well said. When the Bible is taught correctly the evidence is clear. Unfortunately, on occasions a teacher uses an analogy and it is taken away as gospel when it was merely an example used for clarity. Once repeated it becomes apparent "fact" when it is actually untrue. What people need to do is return to the Scripture, and not the teachings based on hearsay. The Bible is so easy to confirm with read on its own. Commentaries and ideas are what confuse the factual representation of the Word.

For many years people believed HC to be the oldest written form of law. Many have stated (erroneously) that the Law of Moses in the Bible was patterned after this old Babylonian Code. What they fail to develop is how these two men/codes became intermingled, if indeed they are?

It is very good that we can timeline Hammurabi, the story of Gilgamesh, etc. Hammurabi is a Biblical king! NOT A PROBLEM. The problem really is in the time line the church teaches. It is nice to hear from you. The unfortunate part of learning is that two forms of religion (Christianity/Judaism/Islam) has taken a stand against Gnosticism. Virtually everyone today subscribes to one part of another of these. They fight one another senselessly. The Abrahamic faiths now support ideas of tradition which are outside of Biblical studies, but part of their traditions. Others fight the traditions as we are all called to do.
