  • WTF ? (o_O)

  • This is a tribute to Pina Baush with her masterpieces and some works by her dancers who used the same process of creation, this is not an explanatory documentary, this is to show Pina's work and her creative universe. It is going to help you to understand what Pina's dancetheater, but you need a little bit more background before watching it maybe if you found it very boring...

  • What you need to know is that it is NOT a movie which is going to explain to you her dance, you have to live it and experience it yourself. Her work is based on TRUTH she would ask her dancers to give for example the Moon, and if the movement was not true enough you had to do it again and again until you become an honest dancer, such as in life :)

  • @Danceisaweapon That is lovely. She must have been great.

  • I wasn't really into watching "dance"...I didn't know who she was but I met her years ago and spent hours in her studio watching her rehears The Rite Of Spring. Then saw the actual live performance. INCREDIBLE! No movie however brilliant can come close to that, I have remembered it all my life. Tears ran from my eyes and I laughed with joy. When she looked into my eyes I felt free and as if I had found my true home.

She was a talented, hard working, complex and brilliant artist & human being.

  • LIKE ALL GREAT ARTISTS Pina didn't want 2 b the main spectacle but rather the spectacles (glasses).

She reveals the art, To me her work is about dreams, reality, desire, life, men, women, pain, joy, love, hate, freedom, slavery, war, peace. You don't get it, that's okay, Every person doesn't agree with your idea of what is worthwhile. She isn't trying to force anything on you. She lived her passion and will be remembered for changing dance forever. Ask yourself, how you will live your own life?

  • ...hmmmm......seams to me very interesting.....

  • I walked into the theater knowing nothing about Pina and walked out still knowing nothing about her. The documentary raises questions and provides no answers to them: What was the source of Pina's strength, frailty, and loneliness? What vision of dance did she want to impart to the world? How did she and her dancers come into contact with each other? What was the creative process behind her choreography? Very superficial documentary, indeed. And because of that, it was soulless and dull.

  • @westeastization maybe not knowing what it is about is the problem. I have the same prob about it too. That's why I also find it boring because I don't know the motivation, the meaning of it all...

  • had to see this movie for school... wow... never seen such a boring movie like this...

  • I've never been more excited about 90 seconds of video. Splendid!

  • The soundtrack: Lilies of the Valley by Jun Miyake

  • THE SOUNDTRACK?!

  • Honestly this movie doesn't deserve to win best documentary feature at the Oscars. It's completely uninformative, pretentious drivel.

  • @Sambucca i agree that shouldn't win best documentary. it's not a documentary, it's a performance movie. but you have to accept.. it's fucking beautiful, the dancers are so talented, the photography and the music are fantastic.. it's not "informative", but it says so much.

  • @eeee2611

I will agree that there is some beautiful imagery and some interesting conceptualizations...but they didn't work cohesively. It was more like fragments of a dance/art installation edited together than a proper film. 117 minutes is far too long a time to watch a group of dancers appearing in a variety of splendid backdrops writhing on the floor like a bag of eels. The choreo was just repetitive cliché physical theatre, which for me got old very quickly.

  • Magyarországon nagy sikert fog aratni!: DDDDDDDD

  • @EBoSom

    jó magyarnak lenni!!!xD

  • My girlfriend forced me to watch this film :(

  • Adolfo Vásquez Rocca PH.D.: “Pina Bausch; Danza Abstracta y Psicodrama Analítico”, Revista Almiar, Margen Cero ©, 2007, Madrid, España.

  • went to the premiere and remember to leave the cinema absolutely stunned. bravo!

congrats for the deserved oscar nomination! finger's crossed!

(all the annoying comments about obscene hungarian vocabulary... get a life people)

  • just saw this at he movies in 3d, and it was absolutely brilliant!! the 3d made it so much more real, almost as good as going to a proper show...

  • An international group of young people got inspired by Pina Bausch and created a media and performance arts project called "Wonderous Stories: From Xenophobia to Amazement". Have a look on the Facebook page and support the project (/wonder2stories). Soon, on the website!

And remember to dance, dance, otherwise...

  • I worked on many a dance show. I came to respect modern dance and ballet. I came to love dancers, and choreographers. Being a dedicated surfer, It did remind me of the dedication some surfers have. I worked with some of the top dancers and choreographers in the world. This reminds me of a lot of things I worked on. Its been a few years working on anything as deep as this movie seems to be

  • @ljp7c4 i thought the same until i actually saw it. it brought a new dimension for 3d movies, or 3d movies brought a new dim for performances. must see you won't regret at all.

  • this looks awesome! 3D though?! no thanks

  • WHEN WILL THIS FILM BE AVAILABLE IN THE US??? <3<3<3

  • @TheMadamemoxie It is already playing in select theaters. Call or, even better email your local movie theater and ask them if they will play the movie, this might even help them to decide to show the movie in your town.

  • @TheMadamemoxie it already is in NYC. They are showing it at IFC.

  • @TheMadamemoxie Free screener in San Diego feb 2nd, for your tickets find us on Facebook = Rockstah

  • @MacknDemon Thank u much! I saw it at Kabuki Cinemas in San Francisco. It was wonderful! I've been to 3 festivals for dance on film, and this one was definitely one of the best! So emotive and real. Nice combination of modern dance with seemingly butoh/theatre influence.

  • @TheMadamemoxie NEVER. US dont like CINEMA. Like Movie. AHUAHUAHUAHUAHAUAHA

  • Me formative influences included the wardrobe department of the Bavarian State Opera, located in King Ludwig’s former bedroom, where I worked on theater costumes and shoes for productions including Richard Wagner’s ‘Twilight of the Gods’ and ballets by Jacopo Godani, I can say this movie made absolutely my mood of the year. Bravo.

  • I hate your commercials

I will never see your movie because you have commercials on you tube. I will tell all my friends never to see it either.

I hate hate hate commercials :(

  • @3lectroFrak Commercials suck, it's true. This is kind of funny, 'cos if you think of the trailer itself as a kind of commercial, then you have a case of commercial before commercial.

  • I hate your commercials

  • One of the best movie, have ever seen ...

  • I'm from Wuppertal and haven't seen the movie. Have to say I'm not very much into these dances... :/. But I can say that this "Pina Bausch Tanztheater" is quite a big thing here in Wuppertal. And yes, the sky train is a normal public transportation here :).

  • SONG ?

  • best trailer ever.

  • @andymckandless agreed

  • Magic

  • Fantastische film.

  • Wim Wenders filmed a movie FOR someone. (She) dances. Dancers dance (her) dances. Dancers talk (to) (her). And dance. And dance.

  • Wann kommt dieser Film nach Ungarn? Oder: wo kann ich ganze Film ansehen?

  • pina=vagina(hungarian)

  • Most brilliant docu and even movie of the year. This what passion, admiration and living is about. This is also what 3D is about. Pina & Wim, what a match!

  • Too

  • In the Hungarian language Pina is the vulgar way of refering to women organs

  • Who is the author of music???

  • Looks like its got the Academy Award for foreign film in the bag...

  • 0:52 the best part.......

  • If this gets a hungarian translation.... im sure it ll be a box office hit :P

  • So AMAZING!

  • can someone pls tell me who are the dancers @ 20s?

  • Go die in a hole Step Up, this is a real dance movie.

  • @kaninsmink Granted this is a much better film, but the dancers in Step Up have 'some' talent.

  • Amazing and artistic. That scene at 59 seconds freaked me out a bit though :-).

  • Beautifully filmed (LOVED the swimming pool and sky train)-incredible range of music Pina Baush worked with, and I was left a bit frustrated by the butchered up version of Rite of Spring and Tchaikovsky's Pathetique (atmospherically shot in an industrial area of Wuppertal)coming to an end. Excerpts are inevitable, but i found them more tantalizing than is normally the case. I could've done without the talking heads as well.

  • song is Lilies in the Valley by Jun Miyake

  • The location is in Germany, it is in Wuppertal. The place where Pina's theatre is ! I enjoyed it soooo much, the movie. It made me feel incredibly sad not to have followed my dacing career, will pick it up again.

  • outstanding film will win several oscars, read my official review of pina 3d, links at my channel which has been published

  • Such an amazing film! absolutely stunning! xx

  • All my respect to Wim Wenders and Pina Bausch, but about 12 million people will giggle when this film gets realeased in Hungary. In Hungarian "pina" is the slang term for female genitals. Perhaps the distribution company should think of an alternate title. Anyway, it's looking great, I think I'll go and watch it today.

  • luv : ))

  • It seems to be a very interesting movie!
