In the last couple years BNSF normally runs at least 1 DPU on the rear of coal trains into Alliance. At Crawford, in order to make decent speed up the hill, they add a 3 unit manned helper. When they get to Belmont, they cut off the helper and send it back.

nice video! well done. do they use the helpers just for EB trains heading to Alliance or do they have helpers on the other side of the hill too?
