  • So heavanly clear and good!

  • This song is for all those "zombie marriages" out there. Relationships devoid of life, that keep shuffling along due to stuborness and a desire to create a false image of a happy home. You know who you are!

  • regio!!!!!!!!!!

  • Plastic surgery ruined his looks. He looked brilliant before. I still love his music, just sad that he had his head mutilated.

  • It was just before George came out with his smash hit Masquerade that I performed live with him during a set at the Jazz workshop in Boston, Mass. It was a lifetime memorable experience for me! Prior to that performance George said he never performed with another guitar player on stage! I was only 19 at the time. We even soloed together off each other's riffs towards the end. Something that just happened spontaneously. Crowed loved it and went wild! Thank you George and play on my brother!

  • @2GuitarJohn are you serious? I have my tapes from way back when.

  • Amazing! thanks for uplording

Well,I agree this version is best as you say

His single note is best in the world

but I didnt know that his voice is best too

  • Ha! Ha! Marty Cohen at the beginning of the footage.

  • one of my all time influences

  • george look sweet.

  • Dion Warwick should wear a mask.

  • who is she???????????

  • ONE TAKE !! Hard to believe that George recorded this for "Breezin" and the first take was the BEST version. In fact, five of the six songs on this great album were first takes. THAT is amazing. All-time classic from 1976. Big seller. Buy it !!

  • Wow, his voice is just so much more versatile than hers...

  • George Benson looks so BEAUTIFUL here...that's MY type of man...damn!! THAT was the beauty of the 80's everyone looked so crisp!!

  • Thank you for this...I was recently living a "masquerade" of sorts. I'm much happier now that I can be the "real me" Yipppeeee

  • "Partyin' Marty Hardy"..?

    Oy vey.

  • Love the performance, shame about the intro!

  • rock on MS warwick!!!

  • alright partyin' marty hardy!!!

  • belleza de música!!

y no esas mierdas de perry el hombre de gaga y esas pandejas

  • rapaizzzz ....

isso é da época que dá uma rapidinha era durmir depois do almoço

  • I rather hear that faster track with only George.Amazing he was

  • I am guessing that this from an episode of Solid gold from the 80's.

  • George Benson has always been an amazing talent...seems Dionne was in ah too.

  • Benson is perfect.

Who the hell that moron? George demeans himself by appearing on such a moronic format.

  • what a slavering bastard shut the fuck up and let them sing

  • What - Dionne is chopped liver? Still gotta love this cover of Leon Russell's masterpiece (well, one of 'em, anyway). Thanks for postiing!

  • They both look like aliens. But: A great smooth kitch jazzsong.

  • @BuddyDog03 I agree, they do look like aliens, alot!

  • GB a totally musical being

  • loved george benson in the 70s

  • Two toppers out the music world.

    Golden voice and hands.

    Memory Karin Carpenter.

  • Two toppers out the music world.

    Golden voice and hands

  • Damn! Dude looks smooth and he can wail. Dionne of course is pure class.

  • I just clicked on this to watch "Partyin Marty Harty".. lol

  • love this timeless classic,,,,,,,,,you've got to be dead inside not to appreciate this,,,,,,by the way i'm trying to find another Benson piece where he plays the same melody motif on two strings at once but i have no idea what the title of the cut is

  • @cartiergl

    ....Affirmation?

  • It sounds pretty good to moi.....

  • SOPHISTICATED DUET.

  • Oh dear, let Woody Allen do Woody Allen, please.

  • as much as i love george and deonne, i like the carpenters version better lol. still good tho :)

  • George Benson is supposed to be accompanying Deonne's solo; but he's doing a guitar solo during her solo part. Was he that intimidated by her? A duet is not a competition.

  • @tutorlog It is his song, she is accompanying him. He can do whatever the fuck he wants he's GB. But don't get me wrong, Dionne is doing an amazing job

  • nice take on the Carpenters song.... there I go there I go there I go (LOL)

  • Love it!! great voices!

  • Can you believe the bad "comic" writing in the intro ... good lord ...

  • we make and creat music, look at these two people. and tell me if I am worng?

  • Go Pittsburgh!!!

  • Nice bit of classic George Benson, he was a handsome fella.

The lady singer has a lovely voice too, but how can she get her voice through all those teeth !!

As for the plonker show host from hell... well, I think everyone else's scathing comments say it all !!

That George Benson sound brings back lots of memories from my youth.

  • AMAZING

  • what year was this?

  • Great Song...Great Everything, apart from the Moronic Twat at the start..WTF is that all about?

  • Magnífico...!!

  • exellent song to listen too on a Friday after work relaxing with a cool ice t

  • What the hell is that wart on the host's face?? He looks like a warlock - a very unfunny warlock.

  • love this song!!!!

  • @chacha12487 Have You heard This masquerade from group called Grande? Try to search by Grandefilm. Absolutely great!

  • I really didn't get any of those jokes. Either I'm not old enough or they just sucked. oh. and GO GEORGE!!!

  • che cose belle senza tempo !! ho i brividi ad ascoltare queste meravigliose cose

  • Dionne Warwick is a great singer -due respect, but this improvised version with her singing alongside George doesn't quite work. I kept missing George Benson's superb voice through the song. His was a a great version of Masquerade' as was Karen Carpenter's -but different. This guy is a musical icon. He has music flowing through his veins, and his voice has this unique musical 'intonation' and such charisma. And I haven't even started on his guitar style & technique!

  • My dad worked at a radio station in Hawaii years ago, and George Benson had built a small recording studio in the same building. He said he met Benson on multiple occasions and he was actually a super nice guy.

I always like to hear that musicians I like are genuinely good people.

    Great music.

  • @MrBrasilballer same here :D

  • ah.... real music.

maybe I'm getting old, but it seems the only artists i like today are the ones who carry that "old soul". George Benson is the man.

  • the best , and i really like it....thats goods

  • G.BENSON BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Phenomenal !!

  • Great video.... but check out the video response.... Vince Martin is one of the few out there that is an equal to George Benson.... you'll see...

  • Grande George Benson

  • @ALEXJAZZ1 Spettacolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare!!!!!!!!!

  • Partying...Marty...Hardy???

  • Yeah, he's a real handsome XD

  • the jimi hendrix of jazz?

  • straordinario

  • what year is this?

  • lol this is so terrible hahahhahaha inaadinah this sucks! allez cassez vous pov cons hahahah THIS SUXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • woooooooow this man is soooo kool im 15 years old and i like this kind of music now ..some one please tell me the year of this show ...

  • where are the solid gold dancers? as for my psycic friend, shes much cooler that i know shes 4:20 friendly! george is the man!!!

  • Does anyone have any (pre Nose job) footage of George?

  • @63Brummie

    go to FunkSoBrudda

  • I love this song...Who is that Moron??

Tell him to give it up and leave!!!!

  • @zedhed1982 thats LOU FErrigno man before he biulds up his body to become the hulk.....

  • @zedhed1982 he used to be on welcome back kotter

  • @zedhed1982 i think its the unknown comic..back in the day...just guessing...

  • @zedhed1982 That "Moron" is one of the greatest jazz guitar players in history with a bright career and the one who won a Grammy for his album Breezin' with this song reaching top 10 in R&B charts...

  • (Tiger Woods translates lyrics)

"Are we really happy here ...

Wid diz sleazy game we playyyyy...

Looking for snatch 2 bang all dayyy...

Searching but not finding sluts anyway...

    We're lost ... in a sleeeeazy masquerade.

  • @sebbbo77 not funny my friend,just annoying.

  • 0:31 start ~ Dionne Warwick with George Benson

  • Dione W is Whitney Houston's aunty. Also, flashjazzcat, relax mate, enjoy the music in its entirety. Don't let the minor muso's mishaps get in the way of excellent sounds.

  • I'm not letting it get in the way of the sounds one little bit: just remarking on his musical professionalism! It's meant as a complement.

  • I've just realized watching this again why George races through the first two lines of the song at such speed. He realized just in time (when he heard the augmented chord) that the backing was further ahead than he'd thought when he was doing his opening scat. Just shows how sharp the guy is: he never even broke a sweat!

  • nice

  • lol.. partying.. marty.... who... freak. lol..

laughing aside... this song is sooo good..

  • I trip off the fact that domino a rapper back in the day used this for ghetto jam.

  • Just love this song. The lady singing with George is Dionne Warwick. She's whitney Houston's Aunt.

  • Is that the lady who sang "That's what friends are for" with Elton John, Whitney H, and Stevie Wonder? wow how beautiful is her voice...I bet Withney H. had taken some lessons to her... : )

  • I truly admire these masters of the arts.

  • ひょっとしてこの女性はDionne Warwick ?

    とにかくかっこいい~

  • ¡Viva George Benson!

  • George Benson rules!!

  • Ella , Dione and Chaka , who can argue with that ? no comment on GB ! he is GB

  • george benson master!!

  • Love them both, but I must I admit I prefer the Carpenters' version of this. Maybe because I grew up with it and heard it a million times.

  • Yes that's why, because the Carpenters version was played in your house. Karen's version was amazing and Ella, was the icing on the cake. But don't forget this is George's song, he owns it!

  • Actually Leon Russell owns it. He still has the rights to the song as writer.

  • The Carpenters???? You MUST be white and from the midwest.

  • Why...why would you assume this? Is it impossible for somebody not "white" to prefer the Carpenters? You embody the same kind of nonsense that has polluted discussions for the past 30 years, that racial divides prevent intependent thoughts. If a white person from Des Moines can appreciate Count Bassie than why in the hell can't a black from Brooklyn do likewise with "white" artists? Incidently...and you can verify this...Jimmy Jam strongly credits the Carpenter's as a big influence on him.

  • that is right............preach on

  • I'm actually colour-blind and from Denmark.

  • "This Masquerade" is a great song composed by Leon Russell, and they performed it nicely.

  • My question - as I agree that this is true artistry - is, what year was this? 79? 80? Later?

  • THE GREAT !!!

  • Wow i always though this was a Benson tune :)))

  • This has to be one of the most sensual and intimate songs.

  • Thank you Leon Russell for the song - a musician's musician

  • WOW! amazing! two totally unbelievable singers.

    In two words...Timeless and priceless.

  • beautiful!!

  • Really pretty. Jeeze the man sings as good as he plays guitar.

  • so true!

  • Damn! Dionne was wet for him during that song, George can sing and played that guitar like a pimp, the epitome of smoothness.

  • so why are you here? go bother people on his vid

  • Actually I'm a big Metalhead but have to say that this song is really good:)

  • that sick guitar riff at 1:29 caught me by surprise, I almost spiled hot coffee all over myself

  • @theroyalpriest

    :-)))))))))

  • @MagnusFogg You, my friend, are just such a prick - your type irritate me - I fucking-dare you to answer me back

  • @K3KCT

...you don't need to dare me to answer... a simple question will be enough for a simple answer...but I can't answer you without understanding your comment...what are you referring to ?...you mean my " :-))))))))))) " ?...

  • @MagnusFogg Hello, maggie, that's an interesting signature you have but I must admit, I'm not sure what it means - all those double-chins - does it mean you're obese?

This is the last correspondence between us; I now delete your name pre-read.

    Thank you for the 'sport'.

So, in my estimation, you are

  • @theroyalpriest you are a cunt, nothing-more, just a cunt.

  • @K3KCT Why, what did he say that was so wrong?

  • @heckto35 Hmmmm... An ally?

  • @K3KCT He said "hmmmm an alley" or are you asking me that?

  • @heckto35 Yes, exactly - what do you think of that? What would YOU have said? I'm a big-fan and I would say that.

I would appreciate your version - let me know what you think. I'm not immune to criticism so speak your mind.

  • @K3KCT I don't see a problem here. I see he said the guitar riff surprised him so, that he spilled coffee on himself. I don't know where you are coming from as if he said something bad. Now did he say something bad to you on your channel? Because that would be different.

  • @heckto35 Good-ol' Hecto - I knew you'd speak-up for me.

Man, that turkey had no-right sayin' what he did.

    You know...

..Oh, forget it, man - I have a Chicken Vindaloo and a Peshwari nan to eat.

  • well done

  • well done

  • George is at his artistic peak in this.....an 'overnight' 20 year success.....

  • As is Dionne.....it just doesn't get any better than this 4 me....

  • maybe commercially but as a guitarist he grew to unbelievable heights just ten years after

  • let me tell you guys something. During this time, I was in the most real relationship ever. My man that I met in 76 was a DJ and I made him play this song and also Lady. The club really did not allow this contemporary style of jazz., but I changed it with George Benson's songs. I was just 14. Wow. I was a child but, I was hanging in jazz clubs....wow!!!!and got away with it!!!!

  • They sang very well.

  • the master

  • Oh yeah, before I forget, how do I delete the first 30 seconds so I don't have to hear the uber lame emcee?

  • Oh yeah pmd, wouldn't that be cool. An otherwise masterful display of vocal mastery ruined by the fool emcee. Too

    bad. But Benson,/Warwick, fantastic!

  • Damn hes a damn good guitarist

  • He is a virtuoso on the guitar and I think his voice is amost as good. That's saying something singling live.

  • Early 80s.

  • 1:30 that "we're lost" is the perfection at its highests

  • This is great! Thanks for posting!!!

  • i want to ask if someone knows what is the technical word when a guitarist sings the same guitar solo while playing as george benson did at the beginning of this solo ?

  • zak, i don't know if this is the word you are looking for when GB starts singing at the beginning. It's called scat singing. It is part of GB'S trademark.

  • Scat singing that is the word that i was looking for. Thanks CREDITS4CARBON.

  • Scat singing is one thing, but studying and working your ear that well that you can play EXACTLY what you hear in your head. That's the height of improvisation, you can tell that he's not using devices or wiggling his fingers through scales and devices, he's singing over the changes and transferring it to his instrument. You can hear it in his solos on guitar alubms, you can tell he's singing along even though you can't hear it.

  • I don't know how it is called, my man but it is one GODDAMN hell of a part...In this case it is absolutely magic...

  • wow hes a pretty good guitarist, very similar to kenny burrell's style; great song, i love this version, carpenters version, even leon's original

  • incredible voice...fantastic!

  • the jokes at the start are fucking awful. nice music.

  • hey, anything that gets in between us and george benson is fucking awful!

  • thats the 70's yeah !

  • She wants him :D

  • damn she is one uuuuuuuuugly momma!

Hell can he sing, that man is the dog's bollocks! ;-)

  • Awesome!!!

    5 *****

    gagi

  • Back in the 80's , I used to work in a strip bar. This song brings back incredible memories. The days of fast cars, gold chains, open shirts and barcardi on ice.

Not to mention all the strippers that I "pumped" erry nite. And I aint lyin, those strippers were bustin their ass for half a dime. It was life in excstacy. Life of plenty.

Then a business deal went wrong. It was tragic.

  • poor phil, dude write a book, lol

  • Damn, I want to hear more!!

  • FANTASTIC ! ! ! :):):)

    SO BE IT . . .

  • muito bao
