Wow! I actually liked it a lot! I think you have a very good voice and the song fit your voice well! You sounded good performing it. I would just say that you should try different vowels that are more rich.. so instead of singing the word "hope" try keeping the O sound instead of going to the diphthong "oo" and sing the vowels out longer in the words. Only go to the ending consonants like r's and such til the very last moment. But you really do have a good voice. It's awesome!
That was beautiful. That was a moving peformance. Your interpretation of this was perfect. Such a refined, smooth voice. The best cover i've heard so far! :)
how many jobs have you gotten as a singer? you have a nice voice. but... , no offens, i think the song dos not eactly fit your voice. there are songs there that are better siuted for you...... id like to hear one so.......
Thanks for the compliment. I always thought this song is perfect for my voice since since it is written for a baritone. What songs do you think are better suited for my voice?
Oh, my goodness. This is so awesome...I'm am deeply, deeply impressed and moved. Thank you so much for uploading this! Please keep singing. You're doing the world a favor.
wow... my most favorite version was from James Barbour.. but your rich, musical voice made that beautiful song more beautiful and more emotional... amazing singing... you have a wonderful technique.
Beautifully done. You didn't over-blow the emotion which was refreshing to hear. I believed you. And really, there's nothing more you can ask of a performer. Keep it up, friend.
I'm a huge fan of Kurt Bowen's version of this song because it's the only one I've heard that has the right blend of power and tenderness, raw emotion and control. With that being said, yours is the next best I've heard...you are completely believable because you just seem to "get it". Great job!
It's from The Singers Musical Theatre Anthology by Hal-Leonard Baritone/Bass Volume 3. They have great piano only backings. Thanks for the compliment. Good Luck.
Thanks everyone for your nice comments and encouragement. I will post another soon. I just ran into conversion problems, from video to computer to net. I'm not a computer geek. :)
don't listen to people Vibratto is what amde b-way b-way and any sogn sogns good wit hvibratoo i mean some of your ntoes there wa no need but you still did awesoem some peopel jsut think b-way songs are no longer writtne for vibratoo
Okay, so I listened to it again, and I have one bit of advice for you. There are a couple spots where you close off your vowels very quickly, and i think that staying on them would be a small touch that would add a lot of beauty to your singing. 2 examples are "onward" at 2:56, and "her" at 4:06.
I'll just give you an example and see if it helps. When you hold "her" at 4:06, you hold out the "r" sound mainly, instead of the "e" sound. So, make sure that you hold vowels sounds ("ah", "eh", "ee", "o", "oo") instead of consonant sounds ("rrr
As a fellow singer / one time Beast, I say bravo to you sir! I love the classical tilt and purity of your voice...its so refreshing. The power of your voice is great too, but, anyone can be loud...what makes this so special is how you achieved volume by using resonance, a skill that people study for YEARS to master.
The baby adds his or her voice to this. HAHA!! CUTE. ANYway, AWESOME. Listen, as a former voice teacher and singer (for the last nearly 50 years) YOU GOT THE CHOPS. The tone quality, the range, the raw power - they're all there. I suggest do not be afraid to open your mouth and let those tones out. I'm totally amazed at what you do even without opening up a bit. I can't imagine how much MORE you can do if you did. (see part two)
Further, watch VOWEL pronounciation AND the transitioning from one note to another. Sometimes the "slide" works, at other times it doesn't. BUT you certainly have the stuff to really do VERY VERY well...dare I say, I even hear operatic quality!! ABSOLUTE! Find a GOOD TEACHER if you can because with minimal tweaking and clean-up(habits) you can knock the walls down. And trust me - I know...even though you don't know me. GREAT JOB. One of my favorite tunes.
If you want to have an idea as how you'd need to project / power the note on this song check out "BroadwayAdrenaline" on this site. Michael Findlay has the best rendition of this song I've ever heard. His power, tone, pitch, and acting blow even the professional versions out of the water. I don't think I've heard anyone come close.
Yes, I tried to add a bit of acting to the song. It was a little difficult with my baby at my feet. I kept playing fetch with him rolling a ball away so he would go after it. You can hear it at one point. It's a recording. J
When you started, I actually thought you wouldn't have the range. Your voice seemed a little warbly, as many do when they are compensating. I'm glad I kept listening. Your singing was effortless, and it even appears you were sitting down. You had pitch oddities for two long notes, but beyond that it was spotless. Your last note was as effortless as the rest, and for a long time. Tell me, are you in any sort of professional / amateur music(al) group? If you aren't, you should be.
Thanks for the comments. I did notice the warbly bits too. But didn't want to sing it again. It's just practice. I hadn't practice a lot, and it was morning. I'm sure I could do better. I am in no musical groups but would like to be. Thank you.

What do you mean by closing off the vowels? Is it that I don't pronounce them enough? or at all?

I hit the thing too early.
consonant sounds are... "rrr", "nnn", "mmm", "sss", etc.

Sorry for the double post: I hate character limits. Your emotion was convincing. Were you playing the piano, or was it in fact a recording?
