Thanks for all the great comments! I confess I don't update or check in like I should, but I do appreciate it. The arrangement is "on the fly" so unfortunately I don't have any tab for it. The tuning is standard e9 with an additional 11 & 12 for some low end. Thanks again!
I can tell you this Austin, there is no other version of "Tennessee Waltz" that comes anywhere close to yours. I can hear the emotion that you put into the song and I can see the feeling you have for the music while watching you play.
I want to thank you again for sharing your talent with us all.
This is probably one of the most beautiful C&W songs. It is truly ethereal on this instument. Great playing. thanks. If you play "Now is the hour" hope you can post it
DANG! I will never be able to listen to this song again with-out wanting to hear the Steel Guitar played like this! DANG I got chills down my spine! AWSOME!!!
This post is absolute CATNIP. If I ever get Alzheimer's, I'll STILL remember this beautiful, buttery version of a great song. You got some chops on you, pal. Praise the Lord and God Bless ya.
No pretense, no ego, not a false note anywhere. Just beautifully, beautifully done. What great playing. Entering the mind of the composer, finding the SOUL of the music; then presenting it in a sublime way. Thanks for the terrific post and GO GO GO A.A. Preston...!!!!!!
great sound i wish i can record all your music played... because here in the Philippines.. my old folks a;ways want it to play especially if there is a wedding ceremony...GOD BLESS
Hey Folks, Thanks for all the nice comments, I really appreciate them. AustinSTEEL, That is a P/P. borgrif, I enjoyed your video and would love to jam sometime. I am from Louisville and my wife lived in Fern Creek and we get back every now and then so we might be able to do that sometime. Keep Checking back as I am putting together a clip of some of my breaks with my band. I'll try to post it soon, Austin
You have talent my friend. Really enjoy the way you put your heart into the music. You have got to 'feel the music' to have it sound like that. You are on my favorite list and will be looking to hear more soon. Thank you for sharing your great talent.
very nice playing and you don't need my advice really; advice: if you only use three fingers for picking, try anchoring both the pinky and the ring finger instead of just the pinky--it might be hard for a while, but in the end it provdies twice the stability which makes it easier to play really fast--I play the banjo not the lap steel, so maybe I'm wrong about this...
Thank You ifyourhappy! That is indeed a complement. By the way, the back up track I was playing with was given to me by Roy Ayres who was the steel player for PeeWee. It is off of his instrumental album "Footprints".
To everyone that has posted, I appreciate all of the comments and compliments. I do plan to post more so check back soon, Austin
Fantastic playing...I have a Carter D-10 and really like it...do you use a sustain, or additional reverb pedal etc. I'm trying to find the right combination. What would you recommend?
Harry, the amp that I used had all the effects built in, but on stage I run the steel through a Peavy Nashville 400 with a rack unit containing reverb, delay, chorus and various other effects. No sustain though, thats pretty much all Emmons. Austin
One last question.Did you teach yourself, use books or take lessons........if you ever find yourself in london england wouldnt mind you passing by for a few tips on how to play...all the best
It is a difficult instrument to play correctly but hey, If I can do it.... almost anybody can. Seriously, it's all about having the desire. I fell in love with the steel when I was very young and never quite got over it. The Lord blessed me with talent and once I acquired my first steel I never looked back. Good Luck, Austin
Patty Paige would be proud, very nice , im saveing this vidio of you playing, very nice, it's nice to see younger pepole playing the pedal steel guitar, mac
Sitting here in a small town in Northeastern Indiana enjoying your music. Keep up the good work. I'll check out your other videos too. Thanks.
