Not familiar with and orangewood stick but in a pinch when I did not have my brush I have used a toothpick as a substitute. I've use the toothbrush for hundreds of rolls it always seem to work.
Phil! Awesome tip! What happened to the first 100 tips? I think you oughtta do a series that compliments your new book, "The Power of Super 8 Film." Maybe you should even demo/review the different types of super 8 cameras you guys have over there at Pro8mm/Super8Sound, especially those Beaulieu 7008s from back in the day. THAT would be cool.
What is your opinion of the Nikon Super 8X Zoom? I am getting ready to shoot my first cartridge of Vison2 200T. I am going to disable the internal filter and use a Hoya 85B instead.

Couldn't the toothbrush capture those nasty particles and transfer them back into the gate between rolls? Why not use orangewood sticks?

I love the Nikon cameras. Great lens. You should use an 85A for this film the 85B is for the EKT 64T.
