It's unfortunate when people just buy into the hype and don't do research on what they are going to buy. Apple obviously relied on that. And their marketing approach is always to market themselves as the superior alternative.

But as a consumer the onus is still on the individual to find out about the facts and the extra related costs. In the long run, the iPhone may now be cheap but the cost of owning this phone is quite expensive.

you are so right...i myself was interested in the iphone but what stopped me was AT&T. I just couldn't do it. But I do have a Samsung Instinct and I am very very happy with that phone. Apple does make a great product, it's called the Ipod Touch and I have that also but my Samsung Instinct phone is great. I love it. I think Apple made the biggest mistake by going to a carrier so wrong for them. Imagine the Iphone on the Sprint Network? That would have been techno-marriage made in heaven!! LOL!!

AT&T is a saint compared to Rogers in Canada and other telcom companies. With the new iPhone, we have to sign a 3 years contract and pay 30 extra/month for max 400 MB/data transfer. So minimum bill would be around $60-80/month
