Classic DeNiro and Pesci in that scene in GoodFellas when they were beating Billy Batts. Pesci had that mean pissed off look as he was pistol whipping Batts and DeNiro stomping his head with his shoe. Classic. A buddy of mine looks exactly like Robert DeNiro.

Aside from the other great songs picked for this movie, I thought this one was a genius move by Scorsese...I remembered hearing Atlantis as a kid and, the second I heard Donovan's voice during the Billy Batt's violent scene in the bar, I thought, PERFECTION!

Scorcese was very clever to choose Atlantis for the murder scene ( originally intended to be the opening scene) because it represents the moment things slowly but surely begin falling apart for Jimmy, Tommy and Henry. Maybe Atlantis represents what America once was for Old World immigrants, an idealised society beyond sea.The words 'and as the elders of our time, choose to remain blind' feature just before Tommy strikes, suggest that America has betrayed its ideals, the Mafia being a symptom

Great video and a top film! For me, Atlantis is an uplifting song despite the violent scene in Goodfellas in which it can be heard. Oddly enough it also features in 'The Girl Next Door' (after they've finished filming the Sex Ed film!), rather a shame it isn't on either cd soundtrack.
