Marat isn't mentally unstable as at first appears. He's actually an utterly happy and wise person naturally, which comes through mostly in interviews not in English. He's a Shakespearen fool - calls a spade, does what he feels in the moment. That mentality produces happy, but not successful people.
@akhrojjamal see kids this is a first hand results of inbreeding with your siblings right here. congratulations sir your parents were brother and sister

the face impression of safin at 1:55 is a classical russian gesture. most seen on girls. you take it funny its so regular for me. safin has a 1st class personality!
@redplague It's mainly because of that. He won 2 slams, reached 2 finals and won 5 masters series and 2 davis cups whilst being a headcase. Your answer is just the lazy mans answer who doesn't know anything about the guy.
@SoooBlue Oh I see now we are getting personal, how mature of you. You forgot to count however the tournaments he didn't win whilst being a headcase, that matches that he could have won if he had not lost it.
@redplague If you're going to mention his mental instability, why not mention his injuries? After all, he proved he could win tournaments whilst being a headcase and he proved he couldn't win tournaments whilst injured or having suffered an injury. Concluding from this, which one do you think was more influential in his failures?
@SoooBlue Why not mention his injuries? Well because the video was about his temper so I was answering within the context of the video. Which one was more influential in his failures? His temper, as I don't view his disruption through injury as a failure on his part, it wasn't his fault, his lack of control was.
Regardless of whether he had control over it or not, the injuries were more influential, as you seem to agree. Whether he had control over them or not is a pointless argument. How do you know he had control over his temperament? We are all genetically different, some people tick and some don't, no matter how hard you work on it. Some players have the ability to change but it had to be done at a young age, Marat obviously never had that ability. None of his real fans would change him anyway.
@SoooBlue Well I agree with you on one thing, this argument is pointless because you keep trying to change the subject. My original comment was about how he could have won more if he had channeled his anger better. This is not just an opinion, this is a fact. Now you can bring as many arguments about his injuries in as you like but it doesn't change that fact. Oh and by the way I count myself as a fan, though that doesn't cloud my judgement as much as you REAL fans obviously let it.
@redplague Well I don't see the point is parroting what umpteen other people have said on every one of his youtube videos. None of his real fans give a shit that he was mentally unstable, that's one of the things that made him unique and fun to watch. The way you mentioned his temperament made it look like that was the primary factor in his failures, when it wasn't because he was still winning whilst a headcase but he never won one title whilst having suffered an injury or as a result of injury.
You don't see the point?Amazing that despite that you've taken a great interest in debating what you consider a pointless argument.I don't know about primary factor but definately a major factor was his temper, especially early in his career.By the way Youtube comments aren't contracts where you have stipulate every possible scenerio for someone wanting to argue with it, so sometimes your going get the wrong end of the stick,so your going to have to learn that and not make such a fool of yourself
@redplague You're making a fool of yourself by repeating what is already on every single video of his. I couldn't care less if this video is about his temper. This video isn't even showing him lose the plot for no reason, he's actually correct so this isn't a reflection of what you persist on saying about how he has lost matches due to his temper. You foolishly yet insist on saying that his anger had more of an impact on his results than injuries yet the facts illustrate this the other way.
@SoooBlue Well actually I didn't say that his anger had more of an impact than his injuries (you created that one in your own head) and if you read my comments properly you would realise what a ridiculous statement that is.
@redplague I quote "Which one was more influential in his failures? His temper, as I don't view his disruption through injury as a failure on his part, it wasn't his fault, his lack of control was."
You gave a round about answer but making it clear that you believe his temper was more influential...
How difficult is that to understand? You're the one who wrote it.
@SoooBlue How difficult is that to understand? Well for you quite difficult. You've quoted it there yourself, I don't regard his misfortune because of his injuries as a failure, that's not the same as saying it had more of an impact. Are you saying you honestly don't understand that or are you just trolling?
@SoooBlue That's right but you also asked me "which one do you think was more influential in his failures". I think you've replied with so many weak arguments you've lost track of what you've been saying.
@redplague Actually, it's you who sounds like you've lost the plot. Well, not like you ever had one to begin with. I did ask you that, to which you've replied his mentality, which is clearly wrong. That's the furthest this discussion has reached, only to be extended by inane babbling.
Well you're not wrong there. What you just said was a repetion of your previous post. You want me to write the same thing again or will you make the effort to read my previous response. If thats how you feel then why continue the conversation? It started by me stating my opinion about his anger, of which you have made arguments about how I should have mentioned his injuries as well and how I should have read the comments on every single other Safin video before commenting (Inane babbling).
lol, thats angry?, man roddick is the angry one, would have loved to see them both get angry at that guy, man it would have been a tough day for umpires then
I was watching Malcolm in the middle the other day and I'm sure I'm not the only one to see a slight resemblence between him and the guy who plays Hal.
this @Swordsman808 is a real dumbass.. oh I got it you have no character, no control, no guts and no fight.. this explain why safin is one of the most successful players in the court, and out of the court, if you know what I mean.. and you are a jealous nerd with no life

Haha. Typical Marat. Guy has no talent or playing ability whatsoever so he's always taking it out on his racquets. Learn to play tennis and get some talent!

@cleanplasticchild Yes, I also understood "Charles", which is the nick name of umpire Carlos Ramos. As I said, I believe that he didn't really care what the umpire' s correct name (Pascal Maria) was in that situation, because he was so pissed!
Tennis players like safin are a rarity-it's a pity that he chose to retire at the age of 29... So young indeed, but the injuries really ruined his career. For me,he and Nadal were the only players that could beat Federer when he is playing at his best. It's absolutely ridiculous how safin calls the umpire "Charles" :) Actually, the occurance of Pascal Maria making a mistake cannot be seen to often...but there,he wasn't right at all.
@NickStriker This could indicate that he doesn't really care what the umpire's correct name is. By the way the guy "who could also be with 2 chicks" was the referee and former chair umpire Wayne McKewen from Australia.
tennis is boring without him, I miss the umpires getting told off...btw doesn't he look like Sean Bean, Heath Ledger and a teeny bit like Rhod Gilbert
Hmm, no that wasn't it. All I remember was Marat sorta froze with a confused look shortly after he served (I think he didn't hear what was called out).. The chair ump tells him it was a foot fault and he yells out in disbelief WHAAAAAAATT ?!?!
he was a colour in today's tennis one of the big four from the previous generation.(roddick, federer, safin, hewitt) i'm really sorry cause he is leaving....
I miss him already..... I love that scream at 0:26! Amazing player, amazing personality, amazing face, amazing body, amazing man... Thank you, Marat, for all you did for tennis!
1-27-2012. He's not blue. He's just 32. Happy Birthday, Marat. But this is NOT angry. Watch some tapes of John McEnroe. He'll show you how it's done.

Even when Safin's angry, he's still got his sense of humour, lol. The 'linesman smoking cigar with 2 chicks' line is a crack up!
Btw, considering his upset, I thought Safin acted pretty decent, definitely wouldn't call that losing his temper.

I've been looking for a clip of Safin where he gets called on a foot fault and he responds with a loud WHAAAAATTT ?!?!
Does anyone see it here on youtube?

US Open 2008 against Spadea. Sadly, I think the video was removed.

Hmm, no that wasn't it. All I remember was Marat sorta froze with a confused look shortly after he served (I think he didn't hear what was called out).. The chair ump tells him it was a foot fault and he yells out in disbelief WHAAAAAAATT ?!?!
Oh well... thanks anyway

safin was clearly right here, the chair umpire should of just apologized
