  • This is one of the best comedies i have ever seen. Pure genius in my opinion. And the speech at the end...such a wonderful appeal to the humanity inside us, and still very actual.

  • To "cymrutroll": how dare you make a comment like that of someone you didn't know and someone who you wouldn't bee good enough to polish shoes to? I've seen your postings interests and aspirations on your page. It's not your fault that your parents were cousins dear !

  • Our race is the Master Race. We are divine gods on this planet. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considered as human excrement. Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet and serve us as our slaves."

    — Menachem Begin - Israeli Prime Minister 1977–1983

  • This man didn't need to swear or use profanity in his act. He was non political, and didn't take the **** out of the audience or anyone in it. He didn't belittle any one, he wasn't racist. And he made people laugh, just by being there. THAT is comedic talent. It's a shame the swearing, vile, acerbic comedians of today can't be like this. You could argue that he belongs to a different time, but show these clips to people today, and you still hear them laughing.

  • This scene alone is why amazon charges $80 bucks for a USED COPY!!! A USED!?!!

  • this is probably my favorite movie! i read that hitler has seen this movie twice. " i would give anything to know what he thought of it" -charles chaplin

  • 19 tomanien people disliked it

  • people of the 1940s hated his voice and he lost his carreer but he'll always be a legend nowadays voiced or not

  • @dt6543214e I didn't think that was how it went. I mean, since the end of the silent era, this was the first movie he made, and as far as I could tell it was a big hit.

  • "What's below?"

    "Looks like a Sun!"

    "The sun?"

    "Seems to be shining upwards!"

:'DD haha, chaplin was totally great. His voice sounds interesting

  • Bwahaha, general Smellawful!

  • hmm strange.. it seems to defy the laws of gravity....

  • I wonder if the pilot was the inspiration for the French worm pilot in that Bass and Rankin claymation of The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town (or something like that).

  • anyone know how old he was in the movie

  • @Italia8023 He was born in 1889 and this is 1940 which makes him in this movie 51 years old. I think he still looked great and cute! :D

  • @LoveAj03

Hitler was also born in 1889, and there is a rumor they were brothers.

    "Impossible"

Ha! That is some quality Chaplin comedy!

  • No, I don´t think is his voice.

  • @rgalvez24 Yes, it is Chaplin's voice. The sound in this video upload is unfortunetly out of sync. I really hate when that happens. It kind of ruins it really.

  • @Deppaddicted . OK, thank you... from México City..

  • @rgalvez24 Of course it is his voice! It was a "talkie." He did several. Try and see "The King of New York" sometime.

  • This Video is great but the DVD is Great too, i Love it but its à old Film.when a People See this Film complette then buy the DVD.

  • "Strange... It seems to be defying the laws of gravity"

  • @honggiangvogia 1940 it was. And you are right!!!

  • Brillant, its still so funny even after all these years

  • This is so funny....

  • Hi there. ... . Tory from Austin Texas. Singer songwriter musician. Check out my originals and subscribe if you like. Please listen to my own original of The Little Tramp..a tribute to Charlie Chaplin. Namaste.

  • ^ ^飛機轉圈圈

  • It is unbelievable that he had to leave the Us in the 50´s for the facists were in control of the US Congress.

  • @dutras, the most targic irony about his life was that for being a supporter of everyday people in his films and having Socialist/Communist friends he was targeted as a Communist sympathizer and forced to stop working in the U.S. by the Red scare and the Black Llist.

  • quick take me to General Smellaweful

  • at the beginning, the pilot is sittting on the right seat, but after 1:40min, he's sitting on the left seat!! Am I wrong??

  • "here take it. Somethings wrong" lol.

  • muito bom!!PQ NÃO TEM LEGENDAS??AN NÃUM!!

  • It's so cheesy, but this scene always makes me laugh to tears.

  • Not bad! very creative.

  • Great movie and this scene is so funny! :D Chaplin's works haven't aged at all, he was a genius!

  • heres take it! theres something wrong. XD we seem to be defying the laws of gravity LOL

  • the bloods returning to my head lol

  • The gas part might be my favorite XD

  • General SMELL AWFULL

  • is this his real voice?

  • yep

  • @otachurn nottt

  • @otachurn It is him, but he is sort of "putting on" a slightly different voice than what is natural. For someone who is prominently known for being a silent picture comedian/director/actor, he could have started making talkies ten years sooner.

  • The second most funniest scene in the film and the entire film is hysterically hillarious with an excellent moral.

  • i love this stuff. the humor is so lovable.

    "We're uside down."

    "i know it."

    haha

  • Give me the stick. "I better not"

This guy is just the best. lol all over

  • "cigarettes?? not now"

  • Hahaha...one of the best scenes!

  • "Whats below?"

    "The sun"

    Best line ever lol XD

  • Its amazing, 69 years and its still funny

  • "Sweet, gentle Hilda..."

    *horrible crash*

"....A beautiful soul. And she loved animals!"

  • little children too :)

  • In Vevey, Switzerland theres a lovely bronze statue of Charlie by the lakeshore.

  • Chaplin has been accused by Mc Carthy to be a commie. I think it's unfair. That's the reason why he choosed to live (and die) in France. Vive la France !

  • Lol, he lived and died in Switzerland.

  • he died in switzerland, but i do agree, it is unfair. after his divorce to lita, everything in his life went downhill

  • There's Chaplin, there's five stars

  • couldn't have said it better myself!

  • I saw this in my history class, it's so awesome :)

  • God bless all the men & women who lost their lives in war & give us the freedom we have today.R.i. P

    Thanks for posting.

  • i LOVE this scene and this movie, i think it's a shame that almost no one from my generation knows who Charlie Chaplin is

  • I think many do, I have loved Charlie since I was 5 and I was born in 1984. Most donot for my generation because all they watch is complete trash after the 80's nothing but shitty movies came out.Chaplin is a GOD in the Film Business he came even before Lucille Ball, Orson Welles , and William Holden. God Bless Chaplin.

  • i agree with you on that, charlie ROCKS!!! i'm 16 and i grew up watching and loving his movies, it was a good time of comedy, before they desided that to make a movie funny you had to make every scene gross, i hate movies like that.

  • I'm 15 and I love the movie too dude

  • i'm glad to hear that, most of my friends don'y know who he is, and i'm like you have got to be kidding me lol

  • I know what you're saying,my friends like him a bit,but they are really into him...peace

  • Wow!

The incredible, and utterly adorable Charlie :)

    <3!

  • Chaplin is in quicksand

  • These scene would have been even funnier if it had begun with them seeming to be rightside-up.

  • charli was one of past Mr Bean, GREAT actor of the world that time

  • hahahahahaa with the water..

  • 2:42 is so funny

  • Thank you so much for posting this. Humor keeps us alive, in some respects. I don't think I will ever hear "look at that" the same way ever again.

  • The immortal, one and only Chaplin.

  • With the most simple move,Chaplin could explain the most complicated facts which 100's of philosophers couldn't in 100's of books. He was the most deserved Osscar winner

  • Whats below?

The sun, it seems to be shining upwards
