For DIY experts it is possible to replace the default battery module with a single 3.7 Volt Lithium Battery that will give you a much longer battery life. However, claims on such forums...

@hallal55 - you usually need to keep the buttons pressed down with your finger for 2 reasons:

1 - safety, to stop people blinding others, burning stuff, creating a nuisance

2 - to save battery, so the laser can't be left on by accident

I don't know what the wattage of the one in case is but a kid got arrested because he shone a laser at a plane, and it went into the pilots eye.

I've also bought thi just recieved mine through the post today. Has no capability to burn anything, i'm a bit narfed as it's advertised as been able to do this stuff and that influenced myu descision to get it. wish i knew where i was going wrong asi cant make sense oF WHY IT WONT WORK AS DEIT'S MEANT TOO

* Put the matchhead and /or laser in a device like a vice so that you can aim the laser better.

The 100Mw is a higher price because the casing is all metal and the diode is lockable, meaning it is actually allowed in more places.

I recently got this laser about a week ago and ive gone thro a pack of matches and 3 packs of batteries and the best i got was a puff of smoke. Am I doing something wrong or usong the wrong type of match or is this laser not as powerful as it says it is?!

If you have a look online, you will find that "There are no specific UK laws relating to laser pointers" - this is quote from wikipedia, so basically unless you start acting like a prat with a laser, there isn't really a legal limit...

However, it would be better to talk to the police about that to get a proper and correct answer....
