I don't agree with you naysaying on Rex, man. How many other bassists could keep up with Dimebag Darrell, let alone complement his parts perfectly? Other than Bob Zilla, not many. The man gets a lot of credit for if not creating, then popularizing the "walking" bassline that many a "groove-metal" bassist have used in the years since Pantera broke out in the 90's.

There is no best bassist, all of them have way different styles, Geddy is as technical as you can get, Flea combines funk and modern rock, John Myung tries to combine multiple music styles and comes off successful with technical playing. I prefer Flea tho as my choice, fuck all that technical shit, give me a song, not a fucking opus.

I have and if u listen to most rush and drean theater... they r better. Geddy Lee is insanely good, same as the whole of Rush, they are akk great at wat they do. Neil Peart the best dummer in Rock, Geddy Lee the best bassist and Alex lifeson is insane at guitar. Something similar with dream theater!! Prog is 1 of the most technical forms of rock music
