He's older and he's tollerated and even encouraged her imagination. He just didn't realize she was bringing it into the real world. She's not experianced enough to not know when she should stop. She's actually spoiled in a way. She thinks she's clever coming up with this theory. It's not real to her until Henry is hurt by it. She hasn't tried to put herself in his position. She made a horrible mistake but that's what life is about. Making mistakes and learning from them is maturity.

This adaptation from the book is very good and makes for a good conflict between the two, but it is a shame that Henry should be portrayed as having lost his temper with Catherine. In the book he never does. He calmly corrects her misunderstanding about his Father, and then when she feels unbelievable shame and embarrassment, he goes out of his way to comfort her. He never rides off in anger. The movie is very good, but it makes Henry appear extremely angry with her, and he wasn't in the book.

@serenitybee20 I agree with you in all but one thing. This isn't extreme anger. He raised his voice but he didn't yell and she's just accused his father of murder! A hanging offense. Anger can be a good thing. It shows how important a subject is to us but people mess up with the excessiveness of it sometimes. Then it can turn into abuse. This wasn't abuse. This was upset and rightly so. She didn't hesitate and kept going on! He's takes deep breaths and reasons with her because he cares.
