@DerAdventurer You know whats funny though, GM had a facility in Mesa AZ where they crushed the EV1's. And a few years ago, i met some people that i knew that lives in Mesa AZ & they never even heard of a GM building anywhere in there area. They didn't know that one existed.

uh yeah 40 miles to charge isn't really that great? and how you say ill then get 50 mpg after i run the battery out, well uh i could have got 50 mpg from a Geo in the 90's, so thats stupid. + this isn't a new techonology, it's called a plug in hybrid. they've had for a long time, and last time i checked a plug in prius can get about 125 mpg. i really dont care what you say, becuase GM is a sucky car company, and always will be. they blew their chance in leading the world with advancedtecholigies

I have a GM muscle car... a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am. This commercial is extremely vague and only shows the car for just a couple of seconds. It is forgettable, which seems like what GM wanted for this car.

If GM wanted to really sell... um, LEASE... this car as they have, they would have marketed the car far much better rather than making some kind of vague/creepy story like commercial like this one.

I've seen commercials from this car that seems to scare the consumer away. I remember this as a kid and was very frighted and somewhat dumbfounded as to what an eletric car is... I have/love my 95z28 but I am disturbed that GM would sell it's battery technology to texaco oil co. and take all the EV1s away from the people who wanted to buy them after their leases. The owners offered GM 1.9 million dollars for the last 78 and they still ignored them.

i don't remember seeing this one during the superbowl and i thought ads for gm, ford, dodge etc. were to aim at all of america. if this had say 'joe's saturn' at the end then i could see why i didn't see it.

i would only have been like five years old when this comercial came out, but i swear i remember seeing it. and i really dont think the chevy volt is any good, because there still making the oil companies happy since its really half gas and half electric

most Americans wont use any gas over the course of a day (40 miles on electric only). And once the engine is on it gets 50 MPG.

this wasnt a bad commercial, actually it would make me look up the car more. its just the GM made the ev1 at the wrong time. no middle east wars, oil prices were cheap, gas at .99 or a $1 a gallo. come on folks, they learned their lesson, and their willing to try it again with the Volt, on a more "mainstream" scale (thus the plug in hybrid gas combo)., give em a break, i agree they should not have destroyed the cars and i dont understand why, but they can fix their mistake

i swear to god we should organize a massive boycott of GM. get everyone to stop buying their vehicles untill they put PURE ELECTRIC cars back on the market. when i was in highschool, just before i got my licence, they announced the ev1. i saved my money to get one.. and by the time i saved enough to buy one (not lease) i found out they didnt sell them, AND were destroying them.. ruined my dream. we REALLY need to show GM that people want efficient electric cars.. and want them *NOW*

I remember this ad ... I went to a Chevy dealership, and they did not know anything about it. Later, I ran into someone that told me it was a Saturn.  The ad certainly did not tell me that. Then I went to a Saturn dealership where they told me it was available on lease for California only. OK ... well maybe some day.

i remember this ad and I remember being confused by it. It doesn't sell the car. You barely get to see the car. Instead, you see a nightmare scenario where there is a thunderstorm at night, then appliances have a mind of their own and start to congregate in the street. Then, an old lady's voice tells you that the electric car is here.  By that point, you don't want the "electric car to be here" because it seems to only summon fear and anxiety.

It's the subliminal messaging that makes this a totally ineffective ad. People want cars that are powerful, ballsy and tear up the road. I guess to GM, nothing says POWER like a Mixmaster and an iron. Leaves you the total impression this car is a wuss car.

Horrible ad. Are you kidding me? Thirty appliances unplugging and running to the street and then "the electric car is here." It's better than the other commercial with the sidewalk and the shadows and the "How does it go without sparks and explosions?" but it still sucks. They didn't want to sell any and made crappy ads to do it.
