When I was involved in "Bike Safe" , me and my colleagues noticed that the majority who came forward for assessment rides and training support were the ones who were quite good riders already and actually didn't need much. The ones that DID need saving never came forward. Perhaps their egos didn't let them? Either way, everyone benefits from regular training.
This is actually a good advert. I normally dislike road safety ads for being over patronizing or just plain unreasonable. Like showing a bike riding down a dead straight road while being 5km/hr over the limit and proclaiming that this person is now magically 3000 times more likely to turn into a hamburger. But this shows the true reality of the situation, its not the speed that hurts, its the coming off. That makes sense and just reminds us to 'take it easy' at times (and not be zombies).
Awesome Advert, shame more people don't listen before it's too late. Just ask the police, who see the remains of people who crash what they think. Wire Fence Dividers at 200km/h equals Mince Meat people. Unless you want to go from Human, to Statistic, I suggest you learn to enjoy riding for the Freedom and Enjoyment it can give you, instead of focusing on the thrill of speed alone. That thrill soon wears off after you bury too many friends from dumb decisions they made. Ride 4 Life, Not Death.
I agree, the people who road race and drive very aggressively are the least influanced by such material. And also it seems from appearance the least concerned about gear.
@R1Rider2009 I would continue your studies since fear has been shown to be the underlying motivator in our decisions...trying to impress people to get their approval only shows a lack of self-esteem and can be viewed as having the fear of not missing out, etc.
You may have misunderstood what I meant when I said people are not swayed by fear, I was referring specifically about commercials like these. I was not talking about fear influencing our daily lives. Study after study has been completed that shows when fear and scare tactics are used in marketing and advertisements, people are not less likely to perform that action. In situations such as these, I tend to base my opinions off scientifically tested applications.
They don't. The purpose of the commercial is to remind people not to street race because obstacles such as telephone poles, buses, etc exist, making it more dangerous for the motorcycle driver if he crashes and slides.
Funny stuff. But no good for a daily commuter like me. lol

@R1Rider2009 Its not fear its fact. Its awareness. But yeah your right the common person is too stupid to get the message.

He's got a point but I'm still gonna race on the road, why buy a supersportbike with 180 bph in the first place?!?!
YZFMANIAC08 2 years ago
Exactly, don't buy it if you don't intend to 'race' it exclusively on track.
