This is so beautiful. I don't understand why this doesn't come in contact with the majority of people! Few people know of Ancient Chant, other than Music Historians, Appreciators (few!), or quality Musicians! This is such a breathtaking non-metered piece.
I don't understand why nowadays, about 95% of people love pop, rock and all of that shit, while they could be listening to classical music, or to the supreme beauty of gregorian/gothic chants. They surpass all forms of music.
@rachelf01 may i venture it is because classical music demands something of the listener, concentration, repeated hearings, etc? the modern rock listener simply wants diversion or cheap and "in your face" passion
@Strefanasha Good point but progressive rock and prog metal also demand concentration and repeated hearings. I enjoy both metal and gregorian/gothic chants

Anyone who ever travel to the great castle in Prague, will quickly recognize the gothic culture in which some of is built in form of black statues staring into the sky with terror. Surely a dark period.
The final part of this chant is chanted in ours days in the church, exactly like we hear here in the CD, in this chant. Hosanna, Hosanda.....is the same chant i hear when I was a Christian and when I Have been in the church, in the Mass.....
How thrilling! The monks where I go to church (Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, VA) sing the parts of the Gloria that begin at 3:12 to 4:16! How wonderful to put a name to this chant!
Holy, Rejoicing of Thy holy ones. Holy, The blessing of Thy holy ones. Holy, Consolation for Thy holy ones. Lord God of Sabaoth. To Thee is due salvation, praise, and honour. Heaven and earth are full of Thy glory. Osanna in the highest. To Thee the rank of Saints doth sing with sweet jubilation. Blessed is He that cometh in the Name of the Lord. Osanna in the highest.

I love this AND metal. You make the comment seem so...one-sided.

@rachelf01 - right, and as much as it may pain those that fall into that group, most all music is based on some form of classical....
