@356butch That's pretty close to how they make the Godzilla roar. They take a chello and slide hardened resin on the strings, creating the signature ear-piercing screech. Hell, we've been making the Godzilla roar on accident ever since we invented the chello.

@69Kambash64 First of all, it's "cello", no H. Second, it's actually not a cello, but a string contrabass (which is an extremely low pitched string instrument). And in addition to coating the strings with resin, Akira Ifukube loosened the strings and rubbed them with a rubber glove.

The american version of this movie is so bad...the dubbed dialog is retarded, the main character practically narrates the entire movie, Anguirus' wail is dubbed over Godzilla's roar, and extra footage added to the movie includes footage from a WW2 propaganda film...when you see the geisha girls on stage they're accompanied by men in german lederhosen, and poorly obscured by a censor dot is a nazi swastika. :p

Thank goodness the original japanese version is finally available on DVD!

You may have not cause their VERY FAINT, I heard it and went "I dont know but that sounds fammilier!" I rewinded and turned it up and heard THOSE ROARS! Did they add that from GRA, or was it in the Japan version?
