Ok I found out what to do lol, just hold down the off button and the home button at the same time and just keep holding it until the thing comes up on the iPod that means you have to sync your iPod, and then you go on iTunes and restore your iPod! It works I just did! :)

I tried this but it won't turn on now. It gets the Apple logo and the loading circle and just freezes. Then when I try to put it in DFU mode it just tries to turn back on. I've reached a dead end.

Put your iPod or iPhone in dfu mode then plug it in your computer and hit restore.
