generally speaking im into metal, but over the past couple of years ive been exploring the hardcore scene(and found some really cool stuff), and i have a question (a serious one). Why do so many people associate hardcore with white supremacy and racism? i find it stupid

Most HC bands are avowedly against racism, and there are famous non-European hardcore musicians (Roger Miret, the singer for Agnostic Front, is an example - he's Cuban). I listen to hardcore and I'm not white.

@ShadowZIsGod One of the members of Sick of it all is Iranian. On their first album they have KRS1 from BDP on it, there are black guys from the NYHC scene on the album cover. I could also mention Dead Kennedys, Scream, Fire Party, the original lead singer of Black Flag is Hispanic, Bad Brains, Madball........but you get the idea.

Anyone who thinks HC has anything to do with racism needs their brains tested.

Ill put it this way. Not that I like to start labeling shit but, SOIA is a NYHC hardcore band. NYHC is its own form. Back in the early 80's each scene had its own specific sound (DC, NY,Boston, LA, etc) hardcore original was just sped up punk. It did tend to pick up metal influences mainly palm muting. When you say thrash+punk= HC. Your wrong. That became crossover. Some bands Started out HC and eventually became crossover like DRI or started out that way like SOD.
