  • @Motordyne Ok so i was looking on the motordyne website and it said the mrev2 manifold is a prerequisite to mrev2 plenum spacer. So do I need to get both the manifold and the spacers to get that h.p. gain, or can I just get one or the other? Thanks

  • @jkidd5000 Great Question.

If you can only start with one or the other, start with the MREV2.

It will give you great midrange gains. You can always add the spacer later for additional top end power.

However, the spacer, by itself won't do anything on your stock revup plenum. It only works on the MREV2.

  • @Motordyne Ok one more question i have an 06' track edition with brembo breaks am it is th vq35de RevUp engine which unit would you recommend that i get? I'm guessing the mrev2 but not sure?

  • @jkidd5000 @jkidd5000 Yes, you have the REVUP engine. For your application I recommend the MREV2 with the 5/16" Iso Thermal plenum spacer. It will make at least 15HP and 18TQ. It often dynos above 20HP & 30TQ.

  • @Motordyne thanks, do you think it was worth the time and effort? Were you able to put the front strut bar back on with the spacer in place?

  • @jkidd5000 Yes. It makes very good gains and costs relatively very little. Approximately 30,000 units have been sold.

And the strut bar fit like stock.

  • How long did this take?

  • @jkidd5000 Installation takes about 1.5 hours.

  • Also, my iso-thermal kit didntt come with any kind of valve, just a copper throttle body heater upgrade. Was I supposed to have the valve?

  • @ambientflier

The valve is not in the Copper kit. The Copper is the upgrade replacement for the valve. Its completely automatic.

  • I just installed the MREV2, 5/16 Spacer, Stillen Z-tube and JWT popcharger on my '05 Rev Up G35 sedan. With a proper Uprev tune, what kind of gains are to be expected throughout the powerband and peak? I like your product a lot...unfortunately I wasn't able to feel the exact difference in performance between stock and plenum/space, due to the intake going on at the same time as well, with the louder sound throwing off my butt-dyno...it does feel like it pulls stronger in mid-range and top end

  • @ambientflier

We have several independent dyno plots listed in the dyno section of our website. They go into great detail on the gains made.

  • i thought that the plenum spacer was that gasket that went around the whole intake manifold ? not that one by the cylinders

  • @salchipapa8000 It goes on both.

  • So what's the benefits of this install? Just better throttle response?

  • @dukviper90 They make easy power gains. 11-13 HP.

  • @Motordyne Okay thanks.

  • Why do you removal the old gasket?

  • @djrollmusic

Its redundant. The spacer comes with gaskets bonded to it.

  • I have a 03 350z, Is the MREV2 a option for the non HR models?

  • @taugason

    No. Sorry.

  • Wow you guys are awesome.

Good job replying to all the comments!

Read em all and I'm surprised.

I gotta pick up one of these thing!

    Great video. Thanks

  • Hey man, great vid! I wanted to say thanks! I had to replace my camshaft sensor, which requires removing the plenum and everything. I had no clue how to do it, but watched your vid a few times and saved myself $400 in labor alone!!!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to make the video!

  • Does this fit a Nissan Pathfinder with a VQ35DE motor?

  • @nofear2485

    No. Sorry.

  • @nofear2485 No. Sorry.

  • Will a 5/16 iso copper fit on my 2005 infiniti g35x sedan??

  • @Baussnigga

    Yes.

  • I gotta say I admire you guys. I wanna own every upgrade parts in my cat made by motordyne. The sad part. Still on a tight budget :( can't afford this high quality

  • @mrkingquang If you are planning on placing an order we have free shipping at the first of every month.

  • Is this the ISO Thermal Plenum Spacer, and also is this a 5/16" or 1/2" spacer?

  • @TazyTT22

    Iso Thermal 5/16" Plenum Spacer

  • ownz cai any day

  • I bought a Motordyne 5/16" Basic Plenum spacer for my 350z. I'm not mechanically inclined, but was able to install it fairly easily. I did mess up and not adjust the cross brace that runs over it though. Since the clearance higher after you install this, you need to shorten the brace a bit. I tried to force it and effed up the threading on one of the bolts. I'm happy with the performance of the product though!

  • This video is very helpful! THANK U

  • Funny, I find myself looking for spacer install vids not realizing I'm in the video above with Eug! Might as well give you an update on this install since it was my car: still works great! I had to disasemble the whole upper to get to repair some unrelated parts and got to look at the spacer, bolts & white spacer blocks... Only thing that wasn't perfect , was a bolt near the intake valve. It vibrated loose; could have used more lock-tite. Otherwise everything was like new still! Quality is great

  • hi i have a g35 6mt coupe. From what i heard the lower plenum isnt good?

I was gonna run skunk2 spacer but now doubting if it will work.. Should I use this set up?

  • @paulg35c

What year is your vehicle? If you have the REVUP engine you will need to start with the MREV2 lower manifold. The spacer by itself doesn't work on the stock "REVUP" lower manifold.

  • @paulg35c The MREV2 will make a minimum of 15HP and 18TQ on your engine. It often dynos at 20HP and 30TQ.

And a spacer (by itself) does not work on your engine. It must be combined with the MREV2 to have any effect.

  • What about the coolant valve? Mine did not have threads?? wtf

  • @Derail07

We can send you a replacement Coolant Control Valve (CCV). Feel free to contact us.

  • is the coolant valve necessary?

  • @Pawandeep211

It relieves a air flow restriction at the front of the plenum and allows the intake runners #1 and #2 to breath more easily.

  • SOOO annoying when you put it in fast motion.!!!!

But good video, thanks a lot. lol

  • @samurai2828

It was edited that way to try to reduce the video length while still keeping in all the important steps.

  • Please see the dyno plots on our website. They show all the gains in great detail.

  • how many hp more with 5/16 plenum spacer?

and do you know if i get a z-tube intake how many hp i will get more

    thanks....

  • man the exhaust setups that they have on the motordyne website look sick and if the performance numbers are right, then they made some really good aftermarket parts. They even have parts for the M35 infinity. Now i can actually buy an upgrade for my fiance's car.

  • how are the power gains on non revup?

  • Many dyno plots are posted in the dyno section of our website. There are different results for different parts.

  • hey guys,

how important is it to install ke CCV? The dealer told me its not necessarly to install it because it could cause leaking so they did not install it for me. I just want to make sure that its really not necessry to install! Do I loose any HP so?I actually want the best performance...By the way, I live in LA and i got the iso thermal one...

  • @aarash2000 Its not necessary to install it, but it is better if you do. It will let your plenum assembly run a lot cooler. I recommend installing it.

  • So you mean im going to loose some HP??or it doesnt effect the power at all?

  • About 2 more HP difference.

  • Quick question. Will the motordyne dual exhaust fit on the 2007+ 350z???

  • Yes.

  • If i buy the spacer should I just go with thermal? I live in FL. Also will this even go on the HR motor?

  • The plenum spacers do not fit the HR series motors.

  • @Motordyne Aw man. Anything similar you know of?

  • maybe a stupid question, but why do you gradually use the torque wrench. like why not just do 80 or whatever from the get go. i guess so you dont damage anything...haha sorry

  • The progressive tightening sequence pulls the parts together evenly to avoid warping and make a better seal.

  • @Motordyne thanks...thats actually really helpfull

  • How long did it take to do the entire install?

  • It can take 45-90 minutes.

  • It took me 3 hrs. LOL! :D Sounds great though. Unfortunately it started snowing once I was done.

  • where do you get the inch pound wrench?

  • Sears has them. Most autopart stores will have them too.

  • hey everyone i got this set up. MD MREV2 and the 5/16 Spacer and as soon as i got done and test the ride i definitely felt the difference. I believe this is one of the best mods out there for the z without having to pay too much. ;)

  • Thanks, been looking for this video for my 350z.

  • See the dyno plots posted in the dyno section of our website.

I would link it for you, but links can't be posted in this section of Youtube.

  • getting this soon, how much hp does the 1/2 spacer give compaired to the 5/16?

  • Exactly.

  • can i buy the ccv valve without buying the spacer?

  • Yes, but it also includes the Aramid gasket. Its the Iso Thermal upgrade shown on our website.

  • what does the aramid gasket do?

  • The Aramid gasket greatly impedes heat transfer from the lower manifold into the lower plenum. This is a necessary part of reducing the plenum assembly temperature.

  • ok so basically the spacer is for better volume but the aramid gasket and ccv are what reduce he air temps?

  • wat kind of oil do u add to the gasket?

  • Simple motor oil will do just fine.

As the engine heats up, the oil is absorbed into the gasket material. It swells and conforms to the contact surfaces to make a good pneumatic seal.

  • It actually is a easy install. Most people install it themselves in about 1.5 hours.

And yes, for most people the power gains are noticeable. And the gains are always measurable on the dyno.

  • wow you guys made that upgrade look very simple!! hey that spacer plenum looks cool. i have a 03' 350z. AEM CAI, HKS ignigtion amp applied, stock tower brace. Will the Motordyne plenum spacer be beneficial as far as a noticable power increase for me?? I have no turbo or supercharge upgrade.

  • i added the skunk 2 spacer but now my strut bar wont fit does anyone know of an aftermarket strut bar that will clear whit the plenum spacer and keep my stock hood?

  • Stillen and APS both make a strut bar that will fit but it would be cheaper to get a Motordyne 5/16" plenum spacer. The 5/16" plenum spacer will allow you to keep your stock strut bar and it will make more power.

  • Skunk2 doesn't come with the spacers for the factory strut bar to fit. You could just use some washers/shims and put your factory strut bar back on. That would probably cost less than $3 dollars.

  • With any size or amount of strut bar washers/shims the skunk spacer can't fit the strut bar. Its design simply won't allow it.

  • wat was that last thing, when they cut the hose?

  • Its the Coolant Control Valve (CCV). It lets you turn on or off the hot coolant flow to the plenum. Turn the valve off for performance in warm weather. Turn the valve on when driving in very cold weather. With the valve on, it will prevent freezing the throttle body (just like stock). Nissan heats the throttle body for safety in cold weather. The CCV allows you to shut off the hot coolant flow when its not needed in warm weather.

  • oh, ok thanks, i just got my spacer in the mail!

  • does the spacer come with that ccv? so stock then the car in the warm weather has hot coolant running through the throttle body?

  • Yes the Iso Thermal kits come with the CCV.

And the CCV allows you to shut off that hot coolant flow going to the intake.

  • cool thanks alot! so the ccv should make a significant difference than right?

  • Yes. That valve will reduce plenum temperature over 40'F.

  • wow thats impressive! ive heard that a general rule of thumb is that every 10 degrees colder the air is going into the engine is another 1 hp. is this seem pretty true?

  • Yes, the rule of thumb is correct. The Iso Thermal system will reduce internal air flow temperature by ~15'F to 20'F.

  • ok thanks alot! where is the cheapest place to purchase the iso thermal 5/16th spacer with ccv?

  • @Motordyne what do you mean turn it off and on how to do that?thx

  • Recently threw one of these on my car...great mod.

  • Can u tell a big difference on this Mod bro cause a couple guys who bought a Kinetix plenum didn't feel much of a diference on their's and it's a non Carb plenum so b 4 i go buying something let me know your opinion.

  • i wouldn't say a big difference, but it does give it a nice growl and it feels slighty quicker. it's a nice alternative to replacing the entire plenum such as the kinetix. and i can keep my stock strut bat.
